Adventure Road is a modest but surprisingly ambitious strategy RPG that combines character collecting, tactical battles, story progression, and competitive multiplayer into a single free-to-play experience. Developed by WangJianWei and KuangXiang and published by WangJianWei, it clearly carries the characteristics of a small independent production. Its presentation cannot compete with larger tactical RPGs, yet the range of gameplay systems underneath its straightforward appearance gives it more substance than might initially be expected. Combat is built around real-time tactical decision-making rather than simply overpowering opponents with stronger characters. Positioning, movement, abilities, terrain, buffs, debuffs, and party composition can all influence a battle.
