Novice in the world is a surprisingly busy little RPG that tries to combine exploration, turn based combat, team building and online features into one fantasy adventure. I liked the freedom of being able to build my own party and decide how I wanted to approach the world rather than being pushed through one fixed path. The exploration gives me a decent amount to do. I can travel around the world map, enter caves, discover sects and strongholds and recruit different characters. I enjoyed finding new companions because building a team is one of the most satisfying parts of the game. There are also different martial arts to learn, which makes character development feel more personal. Combat uses a turn based structure, so I have time to think about how I want to use my party. I liked experimenting with different combinations because some characters work better together than others. The game also lets me fight or interact with many of the characters I encounter, which makes the world feel more open than a typical linear RPG. The idle progression is another part of the design.
