Aegis falls short in delivering an engaging and satisfying mech customization experience. Recommendation: Given the limited depth, lack of reward, and unrefined mechanics, Aegis may not be suitable for players seeking a fulfilling top-down mech game. Preheat oven to 425 degrees F (220 degrees C). 2. Combine butter, white sugar, brown sugar, water, cinnamon, and salt in a saucepan over medium heat. Bring to a boil, remove from heat and set aside. 3. Roll out half the pastry to fit a 9-inch pie plate. Place bottom crust in pie plate; pour in apple slices. 4. Aegis is a top down "Battletech" ripoff mech simulator game. Upgrade your mech and do missions to increase your bases assets and so on. The developers added a bit of background story, which is a welcome element of depth in a sea of shallow games from indie developers glutting the Steam store. Really not a terrible concept (although, top down 2-D kind of died in the 1990s when PCs became capable of better, it's a shame some developers didn't catch up with the 3D revolution). The real problem is the control scheme is physically painful to use. The view follows the mouse pointer... really loosely and unintuitively, all the while you also need to have hands on the keyboard controlling the mech. And that's where things really fall apart. It's kind of a ripoff of the Mechwarrior controls, but they managed to make it even less intuitive. I played a mission anyway, and immediately the only gun on my mech was shot off, so basically they didn't bother making game balance work properly either. Mechwarrior Online is free to play and it's a million times better than this. Just play that if you like battlemechs.

There's a real inventory bug reported at release where the game shows items in your possession, but the settlement dock interface reads it as empty — making the core resource-gathering loop feel broken, since there's no way to actually use what you scavenged. On top of that, enemies with heavier weapons can spot and land pinpoint hits on you from beyond your own visible zoom range, with no way to zoom out further to see them coming, which makes early encounters feel unfair rather than tactically challenging. Combined with a save system that isn't clearly signposted to new players, the difficulty ends up feeling more like a lack of information than a fair challenge. Fixing the inventory sync bug, giving players more visual range (or matching enemy detection range to what the player can actually see), and clarifying the save mechanic up front would make the punishing difficulty feel earned rather than arbitrary.
