This is a very interesting idea for a first project. The atmosphere in the game transports the player to a desolate area full of radiation and danger. As for a solo developer, the game is very well made, with many emphasis on various details of the world in the nuclear post-apocalypse theme. Definitely a great start for a young developer who is not difficult to support.

I have quite a lot to say about this game. This game contains a variety of things that make a game good: -visual style/atmosphere -upgrade system -bits of lore/story -combat -a variety of hand-crafted encounters/levels that utilize the game's mechanics to create challenge However, these characteristics should describe the skeletal structure of a game's design, not the game itself. THE GAME WORLD: AFTERGLOW has large, desolate environments that are rich in ATMOSPHERE, but navigating them is largely a process of moving forward in a straight line. Slowly. For hours. Without any vehicles, sprint, or fast travel. Now, I love atmosphere, and would guess that this game takes inspiration from Half LIfe 2 and STALKER, and am no stranger to large empty spaces in games. But, AFTERGLOW has taken this concept to an extreme where it simply cannot be enjoyed in this quantity. It's reasonable to expect a world like this to be ripe for exploration, but the perimeter of the primary path is consistently blocked by giant walls, empty fields, or invisible mines. Every game in history has an 'invisible wall' that stops a player from moving, but the world in AFTERGLOW is so empty for most of the playt…

Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this game. It is unique in what it tries to achieve, however, and that deserves recognition. What stands out are the environments and the overall atmosphere. The game makes effective use of vast open spaces, which really makes you feel like the last person in a desolate wasteland — and that feeling is conveyed quite well, showing real potential. The rest of the game, however, falls short. The gunplay is simplistic and not very engaging. The writing is weak. And while I didn’t encounter many bugs, the game is in dire need of polish. There are many aspects of the game that feel as if no one playtested it and gave feedback to the developer. A lot of small adjustments could have significantly improved the experience. Just to give one example: there's a building with a staircase right at the beginning of the game. Typically, in video games, stairs are "faked" — they appear as stairs in the 3D environment but function as a smooth ramp for the player. In this game, however, each step is a modeled object, which means you have to jump up every single step to reach the top. Is it a huge issue? No. But it's the kind of thing anyone would immediately notice …

WOW, Epic stuff.

Needs a lot of polishing, but it seems promising.
