World
The world is in decline, it is rough and cold. Echoes of nuclear winter are still heard.
Civilization was at the peak of its development, people conquered the solar system, colonizing its planets and satellites. But several large-scale man-made disasters and global wars in a row plunged the Earth into agony.
Now the remnants of humanity are forced to lead a hard life on scraps of surviving land among the ruins of the old World.
You are a lone wanderer walking through the endless wasteland. Your goal is vague, but your intentions are firm. You decide to challenge the cruel wasteland and go out on a dangerous road.
Gameplay
Apocalyptic Vibes is a single-player immersive first-person shooter with a non-linear narrative.
Combat and weapons:
Be sure that in the wild wasteland there are quite a few who want to kill you.
You have four main types of weapons: a knife, a revolver and two large guns of your choice. It remains only to get ammo and use the weapon for its intended purpose.
Each weapon is specific and has its own tricks in handling. So, for example, by pressing a key, you can cock a revolver, shoot a double-shot with a shotgun, or change change the multiplicity of the optical sight.
You are only a man, and your enemies are merciless, a few shots are enough for you to die. Only by learning to master your arsenal, you will be able to give a decent rebuff in a fight.
Weather:
Within each chapter, you can freely move between levels.
You will unavoidably face the harsh postapocalyptic weather: toxic rain, storms, fogs and optical phenomena.
You will be helped to survive by special equipment and the ability to use the little that wasteland gives. A hood will protect you from toxic rain, a gas mask will protect you from poisonous fog, and wayposts with a radio receiver will help you not to get lost and give you an opportunity to check the weather forecast in order to stock up on filters and necessary resources beforehand.
It is also advisable that you always have a supply of provisions and medicines in your inventory. After all, health does not restore itself.
Equipment and resources will have to be searched for on location, recaptured from enemies or exchanged through barter.
Dialogues and radio:
Communication and branching dialogues with characters are also a part of the gameplay and story.
Communication can also take place via radio.
Walking through the frequencies, you will find various messages and art, such as music, pictures or videos.
Style
The game is powered by GZDoom, the modern port of the classic Doom engine.
The style of the game is "retrorealism". Photo-textures and realistic sound are combined with the classic features of the level architecture and sprite graphics.

Good gameplay and great atmosphere, i love the photo textures and color choices. i like the slower gameplay more focused on landing headshots to conserve ammo then balls to the wall action of normal doom inspired game. the game has some soft locking issues and glitches so save often if you are playing on normal mode. this game is very short, round three hours and normally that's fine but man not for that price tag. i like everything about this game but id only buy it when it goes on sale for 50% and even that is pushing it. there is something good here, but 20 bucks is actually smoking crack. i doubt the devs are gonna read this because its been 3 years but a drop in price would probably help because i don't think that update is coming, i wanna recommend this game because what is here is good but it really is just the ridiculous price tag.5 found this helpful
tl;dr: don't buy this unless you're into arthouse games and can tolerate janky, boring experience with lots of features that are only there to add to the "vibe", not the gameplay. If you want an actually fun post-apocalyptic game, search Ashes 2063, which is on the same engine and also completely free. I really wish I could love this game, and it does some things greatly, but at the same time it really lacks in the technical and game design areas. Great elements: the atmosphere, the artstyle, the *vibes*. That's literally it. Poor elements: - Despite what the page says, this game is NOT non-linear, there is only one path through most of it, with just a few small situations where you can get a bit of barely meaningful extra loot or NPC interaction if you take a moment to look around. You can go back to the locations you've already been to, but it doesn't let you go too far, and there's never any reason to do so as you get nothing new. - Extreme lack of enemy variety, as you only fight two enemy types through its entire duration (pistol bandits and shotgun bandits). - Combat is jank as hell, headshots almost never register with the carbine (which is atrocious considering it's the…1 found this helpful
Ever since grandpa left the fog has always been around. The crisp air always awakens my soul a little whenever I take my steps on this path. A stranger sits with me but in his quiet and still mask I know we're more conntected than one, we are here, in competition and in companionship, in a brotherhood. The radio is my only escape but it gives me memories I've never quite lived. I'm tired... so tired of the bullets and the violence I summon into existance for a box. I feel it jab my back as each step lands in the sand. Maybe a nice warm cup is all thast needed, I think I would like that. - A Rook
Its pretty short, but overall I enjoyed the time I spent in it. Worth the price I paid on it. Only minor complaint I have is outside of buildings the enemies can be tough to see, and the rifle didn't help much.
Too short and bugy for this price
началось очень даже хорошо, а потом у меня забаговало игру и вместо квиксейвов начало возвращать к чекпоинту + уменьшать здоровье и как бы, ну, зачем тогда вообще режим с сейвами, если он просто перестает работать посреди игры
