The Light Remake

There is potential but the story was confusing. I still don't know how the closet puzzle was solved even after looking it up, I don't know where the solution came from and I wasted so much time on it. ;I Was not an enjoyable experience overall.

6 out of 10 Not a game, but a statement. From 2026, it feels like the author knew something. In short, The Light is a fairly short walking simulator with a good soundtrack, decent visuals for its time, questionable puzzles, and some game design flaws. Giving it a thumbs up for the message and for the solo developer’s effort.

This little game is a surprising philosophical reflection on human nature and our place in the world. Great visuals and atmosphere. The fact that the horror elements of this game are grounded makes it feel like a pessimistic cautionary tale, which hits different than a typical sci-fi or body-horror game. My only two complaints: (1) Some of puzzle solutions could be a little clearer (I had to look up a walk-through a couple times). (2) English translations were sometimes rough, impacting some important notes and quotes that the player reads. This hindered the intended meaning and broke some immersion. Nonetheless, I found this little game worth playing, especially for the sale price of $0.99.

It's an ok game. You play this for the vibe and the vibe only, as neither the gameplay, the puzzles nor the story are particularly good, original or interesting. But the vibe is great. It scratches that melancholic urbex of post-apocalyptic soviet era towns (yes that was a long sentence) itch, even though I was a bit disappointed I couldn't explore more, as it's actually limited to one building and its surroundings. But as it's a one man project made in 2012, honestly, it gets a pass. The game is also very short, 2 hours at best, and not the kind of game I'll replay. But again, its a one man project, and a very cheap game. All in all, a pleasant experience.

Very beautiful game that had me fully immersed and wanting to figure out the plot. Beautiful scenery and use of audio to make me feel absolute dread. A philosophical message in the story about humanity and it's role on the planet. 7.5/10

[spoiler] There are no stairs to the third floor and above, huh? [/spoiler] Pretty atmospheric game, but short. I wish it was a bit longer.
