I was looking for something to play and came across Agoraphobia. The photos and videos made the game look really impressive, and the price of .99 cent was what sealed the deal.. I downloaded the game and began to play, and it was a much better experience then I expected for the price.. The game claims it's a psychological horror game and I'd completely agree.. I felt unnerved a few times while playing and quite a bit of the scenery was unsettling.. Since I'm a horror movie fanatic and gore fiend I was enthralled.. With that said while I enjoyed the game, the progression systems randomness and choice in how to progress sometimes feels rather lackluster and more akin to luck then actually skill.. Without a guide I could have found myself quitting the game midway through as having to click on this and zoom in on that, with almost no real hints or hand holding if you will would have frustrated me.. The guide made the experience far better, as I got to enjoy the music and the experience and could avoid the frustrations associated with randomly clicking and zooming on everything until the game progressed.. The Story - "You awake, You expect your family to greet you, but the h…
wHOOOOOF... this game isn't very good folks.
Agoraphobia is a game that has nothing to do with the title. It's a pretty bog standard "Psychological Horror" walking simulator, with some of the worst scares I've ever seen in a self proclaimed horror experience. I knew that this game was infamous in the Indie Horror scene, (as is this developer), and I wanted to try it out for myself, just to see if the "mostly negative" reviews were all that. They are all that. It's humorous to me that my good friend and curator, Deadeguard98, someone who's opinions on the horror genre I take at face value, gave this title a positive review. That was enough for me to think the game wouldn't be as bad as people said it was, so I paid my $1.50 admission fee and waltzed on into the game. First thing to note is that this is a solo dev game, that very openly uses free and bought assets from the unreal engine marketplace. There's nothing wrong with that, I have played a handful of competent asset flips before, but unfortunately, this isn't one of them. Most of the game is a one for one recreation of another called Locked Up, a complaint I've seen a handful of people make. The co…

First of all, the game is 100% playable until the end (in theory). I don't really care for the plagarism because I played Locked Up and this is not the same game. This is not great or even good at all. In every room / level you have several objects, drawers or doors you have to interact with in a random order or click them multiple time without any system or hint. The only "enemy" is the standard horror model from Unreal engine. It looks wrong and deplaced here. There is no reason to go throigh this. No real atmosphere, no good jumpscares, no comprehensible story, doesn"t make any sense ar all. You can play though it with a guide but even there, a lot of stuff is just guessed and turns out to work a bit differently. In the end, just avoid it.

This is game is scary... not really that much. Around the time I was playing it in 2021, it was a buggy mess, it kept me walking around to activate events and I keep getting lost. And this was just in the beginning. I don't see myself struggling to try and make it through to the end of the game. Here's my video TRYING to get through the intro area: https://youtu.be/DP9FX3RCFD0?si=BCCRz3UzqpsHsA8d Perhaps now in 2025, the game is in a better state, I don't know. I didn't really follow it at all after this.

Only got it for the achievements yet somehow it manages to disappoint in that department, 0 testing has been done and interactions are clunky and impossible, the only fix that has been taken in was changing your mouse?! Anyhow, paste game not even worth the 0.79$.

I wrote a review for an unrelated game while playing this and it was more fun than this game.
