About Air

Fly a small paper plane!

Air is a game made to transport you to an enchanting world, forget your worries and let yourself be carried away by the atmosphere.

In Brittany-inspired settings in France, you need to fly a small paper airplane for as long as possible!

But beware, you will meet many obstacles along the way. Use drafts to lift your plane ever higher!

Will you make it to the end?

Main features:

- Use the inertia of your small paper plane to travel long distances. Be mindful that the small plane is very light, the slightest flurry can push you off your path. So beware of strong turbulence and use drafts with caution.

- Use drafts to gain speed and height. Use the rising winds of the fields, the hot air of manholes or air conditioners, as well as the wind from moving objects to continue your journey.

- The obstacles you will face include buildings, cars, pedestrians, electrical wires, birds, and much more.

- Hover over eight unique levels each representing an different Breton environment such as a town, the countryside, a city, or the beach and the port.

- Unique and highly detailed 3D environments: from the smallest paper on the ground to the tallest buildings, everything is done to give you the impression of being in the French region of Brittany.

✦ AI summary

Air has an appealing concept of guiding a paper glider through obstacles, but players consistently report it falls short in execution. Common complaints include poor flight mechanics with unresponsive controls, difficulty that requires endless restarts without checkpoints, and technical issues like crashes, while the visual style is criticized as an overdone HDR effect that detracts from the experience. The slower-paced gameplay also fails to deliver the thrilling experience shown in marketing materials.

Air is an unusual, somewhat casual paper plane/obstacle course game where you guide a paper glider through an obstacle course surrounded by scenery themed on the Brittany region of France. Only, if Brittany was a crappy HDR low poly hellscape. I'm exaggerating a little. If you may cast your mind back about a decade or so when digital cameras started featuring effects like HDR, and boomers made a habit of cranking the HDR setting up to 11, creating ghastly, overexposed looking seizures of pictures, well, that's what this game looks like. And it's a bit of a shame, because the concept of guiding a paper glider through wind gusts and avoiding trees and flags and power lines might even be appealing to casual gamers. This game could have worked if it wasn't priced so high and delivered so poorly. From a technical perspective, the game doesn't meet basic minimum requirements that most PC gamers expect as standard. The game features lazy low-polygon "retro" assets, making this look like a barely functional 3D game from the mid 2000s. It's unclear why the developers weren't able to arrange high quality, high polygon count contemporary assets for the game, and also irrelevant... wh…

This is a very cool premise. Fly a paper airplane around a town. Everything works like it is supposed to. Unfortunately, the gameplay is very slow and not a whole lot of fun. Contrary to what the trailer shows, it is not thrilling to fly the airplanes. I wish I could give it a thumb sideways. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7fX8mZqzoeU

Looks terrific. Would be nice if the plane could actually fly more than 2 metres before dropping like a piano filled with anvils. Would be nice if there were checkpoints. Would be nice if there were explanations regarding how to control such a demanding and unresponsive little thing. Would be nice if pulling the stick meant going up instead of down, as no amount of options and remapping could fix that heresy. I've tried 69 times from the courtyard. Half the time, I have no idea why the plane falls (or fails without falling.) I've passed over the wall 3 times, barely got any further before the plane dropped for no apparent reason, and each time I had to restart from scratch. And some joker put "casual" and "relaxing" in the sales tags. Worst flying I've ever experienced, at least in a video game.

The game looks fun but I just get a CTD when I try to start a new game. I'll update this when I can play. I get 60fps on Soulcalibur 6 but can't run Air.
