About Alpha Sorcerer

THE SUPREME ACTION PLATFORMER

Take your sword and engage in the most satisfying 2d combat ever put to screen. Between elite sword techniques, bombastic magical spells, and a plethora of movement techniques, your flimsy opponents don't stand a chance.

ALPHA SORCERER

Thought to be dead for hundreds of years, a feared tyrant from ages past mysteriously awakens into an unfamiliar future filled with grotesque monsters and oppressive rulers. What follows is a bloody and explosive quest for revenge as you, the legendary sorcerer king, thought dead 300 years ago, hack and slash your way back to the throne, now occupied by a strange cult with alien powers.

Constantly hunted by soldiers desperate to put you back in the grave where they think you belong, and hounded relentlessly by a horde of monstrous creatures which have spread across the world tormenting its inhabitants, the sanctity of this dying planet is upended by your unexpected presence - various characters from differing origins frantically try to make sense of your sudden reappearance as they are forced to reconsider their loyalties. But are you really as bad as they think you are? Perhaps this world can be saved?

✦ AI summary

Players praise Alpha Sorcerer as a tight, fast-paced action platformer with satisfying combat mechanics, excellent level design, and a surprisingly well-written story that doesn't overstay its welcome. The game features smooth controls, fair difficulty scaling, great visuals with a retro soundtrack, and minimal menu management that keeps focus on combat and platforming. The main complaint is that the game starts quite difficult and has some cheese-able enemy AI, though players note these issues diminish as you progress and gain skills, and overall feel the game deserves far more attention than

I will start with Pros and Cons because noone wants to read a wall of text first: Pros +Fantastic fast-paced, gory, bloody, satisfying combat system +good controls, fun movement and traversal options +A fair challenge, the game is not easy, but it didn't feel unfair to me +doesn't overstay its welcome too much, it ends the story at a nice point, and it has a fun final level with hard platforming +a good amount of options in combat +excellent level design +enemy AI is very fair, though they can be a bit cheesable +surprisingly engaging and well-written story. I was a bit taken back by this +great graphics for what they are. There is some nice parallax scrolling, and the combat hit-effects are great. +I really enjoyed the music, it's very SNES-like +Sound effects are crunchy, punchy, and meaty. Really helps the combat feel good, +good feeling of progression Cons -the start of the game is quite slow. I died for 10 minutes in only the first few rooms probably. The combat really comes into its own when you find some relics and build out the skilltree a bit -As good as the combat is, it does get a bit repetitive after awhile -I would have liked to see some more enemy types, there are s…

This game needs more love and attention! It feels like a mix of katana zero and momodara. I love how minimal the design is, for me it gave a better focus on combat and platforming. The combat and power system is one of the smoothest I've played since hyper light drifter. I highly recommend this game if you love a good story and some hack and slash power fantasy. It has its challenges but nothing you can't overcome. Definitely a gem and hope to see a sequel and add ons where we can play as other characters or use other skins.

As the other game form the same author, Way of the Red, this is a fantastic action game.

I was shocked by how good this was despite being a two year old game with only 11 reviews by the time I started writing this. I don't understand why this wasn't more popular when it came out. Marketing maybe? Simply put, it's a tight, well paced, and fun action platformer. The combat is especially fun and well balanced. One of my favorite aspects of the game is that you don't have to spend any time in menus. In a normal game, when you pick up equipment or items, you have to sort through your inventory to select the optimal items to carry, and those items will give you arbitrary small bonuses. Some games overcomplicate this by having hundreds of pieces of equipment and weapons shared between several characters that you have to manage. What Alpha Sorcerer does is give you the permanent bonus for every item you pick up. No need to open the menu at all. More games should function like this, especially if they're short. I want a continuous stream of game play. I should never have to pause and sort through my inventory for 10 minutes any time I pick something up, and I'm glad I didn't have to. I don't think I've ever played an action platformer where the enemies don't respawn, …

What an amazing game. This dev's previous effort, Way of the Red, was already a fantastic 2D action in its own right, but this is on another level. The controls may be a bit odd at first, and the game starts off really hard, but once you level up and gain more skills, the combat is one of the more satisfying systems I've ever played. The minimalistic design is great, the story is interesting and I have to give special props to the outstanding soundtrack. All this for a more than fair asking price even outside sales. Don't miss out on Alpha Sorcerer.

This game was sold to me as "smash bros esque metroidvania". I'm sorry to say, it isn't that. What Alpha Sorcerer is however is a tight action platformer. If you like Hollow Knight's combat then I highly recommend this game. You need to be aggressive and cautious as it's incredibly easy to get overwhelmed and you don't have many tools to get out of combat. This game is clearly the work of passion and I'm looking forward to anything else that the dev makes. For the feeling of that lightning fast 2d combat with some genuinely fun and challenging platforming segments. For anyone who finds the beginning hard - don't worry it gets easier once you get a hang of things. Protip 1- Invest in the magic skills first. There's a fight early on that's nearly impossible to beat without maxed out magic. (At least for me). Protip 2 - Enemies don't respawn. If you need to you can very easily just run back to the save point after every check point to make your life a little easier if much more monotonous.
