Mage

Mage is a poorly made Metroidvania style platformer slapped together badly with Unity. It's not an asset flip that I can tell, it does seem to be sincerely made, just badly. The game has you doing normal platformer stuff, unlocking different areas as you learn new "spells" as you take on the role of a demon possessed wizard stuck in a dungeon. How inventive. Even less effort went into the technical implementation than went into designing the game concept, too. From a technical perspective, the game doesn't meet basic minimum requirements that most PC gamers expect as standard. The artwork here is terrible, it's a blend of old retro pixel "art" used as a substitute for contemporary PC graphics, and some of the most amateurish MS-Paint style drawings I've ever hurt my eyes on. It's unclear if this is due to lack of budget to arrange someone who can do graphics properly, or lack of talent, regardless, the overall visual quality of the game is extremely low as a result of these decisions. While there are options to change the resolution for the game, all this does is scale up the simplistic 2D art assets used to make the game, which makes little or no difference to the graphic…

I really enjoyed my experience with Mage, it's a fun little Metroidvania with nice little challenges to keep you engaged. I especially liked the last boss, which worked very well with the games mechanics.

Mage is a fun little platformer which is great to play when you have a little bit of time to spare. The game feels simple to understand yet has a complex level layout which is extremely well thought out, similar to Metroid. The levels require you to go back and forth to discover secrets you may have missed, as well as to access new areas you could not before. This sense of exploration and adventure felt very rewarding, especially as your character becomes stronger. The bosses were also fun little fights to break up all of the exploring, and some of them had a surprising challenge to them. Overall I definitely recommend Mage, it's unique, short, and has a lot to offer if you're looking for a small platformer game with a few unique mechanics and some funny commentary!

This is a good old-schooled game, if you want to experience old-schooled indie game this one is very good start
