Apocalypse Love Shelter

For my First Impressions check out my video here: https://youtu.be/ZTA66-7wBRU I really like the idea of building a shelter, scavenging resources and delegating jobs to those who you are in charge of keeping alive. The problem with this game though is resources run out far too quickly and you are only allowed to scavenge when the game decides you can. Another huge issue is whenever someone is tired they cannot do any tasks. A much better solution would be to make them more vulnerable instead of completely useless. Call me crazy but if your life is on the line and you need food, the last thing on your mind would be that you're too tired to walk down the street to get it. I do enjoy the campy nature of the FMV sequences and how they differentiate between zombies and mutants but this game is to formulaic with no wiggle room for you to make your own decisions.

This game is a nice little diversion that I occasionally revisit. My thoughts: [b] Stability and Performance [/b] I've experienced no crashes and have no recollection of bugs. [b] Characters [/b] The variety of characters is interesting and having certain combinations of characters in the shelter leads to specific interactions between them and the player, which is a nice touch. [b] Metaprogression [/b] Successfully completing the game leads to points that the player can use to level up certain bonuses. Learning the game and surviving the ~50+ days at first is challenging, but as the player begins to succeed, they can level up certain bonuses that helps future runs. Yes, all things remaining the same, this makes the game easier. However, it also allows you to try new strategies to have more characters in your shelter and/or see more random events play out in certain ways. [b] Gameplay [/b] The gameplay loop is pretty simple, there is a day/night cycle, Most days introduce events that involve some kind of choice the player can make, some of which lead to a character being unavailable while they are outside of the shelter (foraging, etc.). Game is too stingy on resources, especially water and food. I only managed to survive past 20 days on second play through by putting most of my money on food and water but only lasted a few days after and all the girls in the shelter died at the same time and I died the next day. Third play through I tried someones walk through who seemed to last 21 days, but my play was a no go because events are a bit random even if you know the right decisions to make to not get hurt on some of them. It went similar to my first play through even though I had more food and water this time, couldn't even get close to 20. Seems to be more of a game of chance but very few good outcomes. And my record on a lot of those types of games Is why I don't gamble in real life.
