Long ago, the first star was born.
On the night when the star was burning the brightest, any girl born under the light would be gifted the magic of the powers of the Star Goddess.
Those girls were hunted and burned for holding such immense power. All except for one who was kept hidden in the forest by her mother.
Seventeen years later... the first star has shattered scattering the chunks across the universe, one even landing in the kingdom of Lordell.
A warlock seeking great power has taken over Lordell Castle and in one final effort the prince shattered it further into eight fragments, ordering the Maidens of the First Star to hide them deep within ancient temples around the kingdom.
The last surviving witch, Verana wakes up to a voice,
"Go find the fragments. Stop him. Save me. Please."
PLAY as Verana, a young witch and master a variety of spells to slice, burn, and zap enemies in this 2D platforming adventure!
DEFEAT bosses sealed away in forgotten dungeons to claim the scattered fragments of the shattered star and restore peace to the land!
UPGRADE Verana's health and magic at Angel Maiden Statues by making hearty donations!
EXPLORE a great forest, dark caves, sandy waste, and even quaint towns!

I have had a lot of fun playing this one. It's incredibly unpolished and has the obvious hallmarks of a game being someone's first commercial project but I love that kind of stuff. There is an earnestness and honesty to it. I don't know anything about the developer or who they ever are but they needed to put this out in the world and I commend them for it. It's not going to win any GOTY awards but this is way more memorable than most of the Tripe A games from the last decade. The animation is looped strangely and the music is incomprehensible to me. The controls are a little stiff and I found it eating my inputs from time to time. I also didn't really care about the problems when I was playing it. Despite those problems, I was having a great time. Maybe because of those problems I was having a great time. A distinction without a practical difference. It's lo-fi in a neat way. I don't doubt that many people won't be able to appreciate what this game is but if you do like very unpolished gems, you'll find something here.
