About Aris Arcanum
Once destined to lead the grand library of Aris, scholar Clyde now faces its ruin. Appointed overseer of Atramancy, the art of manipulating the occult Ink, he must confront the very force that promised knowledge but delivered madness. The Ink, an alien entity sealed deep within the arcane library called Aris, was studied for its power to enhance magical abilities. But its price was steep. Those who embraced it became consumed, their minds twisted, their bodies marked with wounds of dark sludge. With his mentor Mira lost to the curse, Clyde must descend into the corrupted halls of Aris, battling warped scholars and unraveling layers of cosmic horror. Clyde must overcome the scourge of the Ink and its collections of twisted reality to preserve the order and the reason of Aris.
- A unique Victorian-era, magic-infused roguelike, where you guide a determined scholar through the cursed Library, balancing the frailty of his body with the limitless potential of the Magic of Ink.
- Spellcraft unique magic, using Ink to combine abilities and scribe your own unique spells to see you through the complexities of the Archives and the challenges they pose, using a fair, but challenging combat system.
- Experiment with thousands upon thousands of builds to find your favorite, as death is but a setback. Every death is a reset - but his magical talents ensure he is no worse for the wear.
- Descend into otherworldly stacks, where reality crumbles and endless rows of shelves and books give way to the endless, all-consuming void...
- Overcome corrupted staff and monsters, and collect Knowledge to maintain your progress as Clyde dives deeper and deeper into the Library to carve the path towards his salvation, growing wiser and more powerful with each death he suffers...

This game is perfect the first 2 hours that you play it. It looks good, plays well, and seems to promise a lot of unlocks and replayability in the future. If this was an early access game, I'd recommend it. Sadly, it's not. And the more you play, the more you realize that your anticipation for things to come is just your optimism. And the things you get the first 2 hours is it. It's unfinished otherwise. There's only 1 biome and you get about 15 levels until the boss fight. Pretty short. First time I rolled credits, I thought maybe it unlocked something new. It didn't. Maybe it's like Hades and you get more unlocks the more you beat it? After 5 more times of rolling credits and getting exactly the same dialog and being unceremoniously dumped back to the hub area with nothing new, it's apparent that that's really just it. The game brags "Experiment with thousands upon thousands of builds". Technically true, but doesn't work in practice. You get 4 spell slots with up to 5 modifiers (some spells have less). Remember the 1 biome, 15 levels? The run is so short that forget the other slots, you can barely even fill in all the modifiers for your starter spell even if you always go for u…50 found this helpful
Beautiful atmosphere and a tight game loop, loving it so far!6 found this helpful
A cool and compact take on roguelites with heavier-feeling combat in a beautiful grim world with zany characters, and the possibility for some broken-in-a-fun-way spell builds.4 found this helpful
Great game with a unique combat style, has a unique art style with an interesting story. Great game overall would recommend:3 found this helpful
This might be the worst game I have ever played. The combat system literally puts you to sleep.1 found this helpful
the art style and thematic is insanely pretty, however the gameplay needs more flush out, the stamina and movement is clunky sometimes, and the game get boring after an hour or two.
