“Aquanaut's Holiday” is a simple 3D adventure game in which you explore a mysterious underwater world aboard a submarine. Released for the PlayStation™ in 1995, the game has no specific objectives to achieve. You are an employee of the International Oceanographic Research Institute.Having taken a vacation to rest your weary mind and body,
you set off on an underwater adventure aboard the state-of-the-art submarine “Holiday,” entrusted to you by your superior.What you discover in the vast ocean is entirely up to you.
You can swim around without a care in the world, interact with the fish, or discover ancient ruins and let your imagination wander to civilizations of the past.The underwater world is full of freedom and adventure.
Take on the challenge of mapping your assigned waters, and you’ll encounter familiar, adorable fish and strange creatures wherever you go.Don’t forget to stack blocks to build artificial reefs.

ARTDINK GAME LOG has added a “Remaster Mode.”The textures of the aquatic creatures have been upgraded to high resolution, allowing you to admire their patterns and expressions in detail.Of course, it also features a “Classic Mode” that lets you enjoy the game just as it was back then.
What’s more, by using screen filters like ‘Scanline’ and “CRT,” you can immerse yourself in the atmosphere of “those days” when you used to play.The package also includes the original manual from that era, which explains the background story and how to enjoy the game.

This was the first art game I remember playing. I was used to games with combat or death so at first I was terrified something bad would happen. Eventually I realized there wasn't anything to be afraid of in this game. This game became a comforting place for me. Sometimes I'd wander around and every time I'd find something interesting. For a while when I played it I would go park my submarine in some place with interesting music and just work or chill listening to it. This was one of the top games I wanted to see on steam. Imagine my surprise when days after launch absolutely no one has reviewed it. It's like I loved a musician, learned they're playing live, bought a ticket, and then no one else showed up. I can't help but find it a little sad. What I thought was an extremely famous game turned out to be a private garden just for me. I'm okay with that reality but I encourage you to try visiting too, especially if you love games like LSD or Yume Nikki. - Devs if you are reading this, please consider adding the english from the original PS1 to this game. The game is playable without it and I'm not sure it's financially viable to add it but it would make me really happy…25 found this helpful
For those who are wondering about the game only being in Japanese, the only Japanese text is in the main menu. Once you have gotten into the game all the text is in english. Also, if you aren't able to understand English, the text is pretty sparse and is relegated to the return-to-base menu, so it doesnt really influence the moment-to-moment exploration. So, if that doesn't bother you, try out the game! I hope this clarifies things a little bit about this PC port.2 found this helpful
