What Steam players say
Recent verbatim reviews from Steam — separate from playze.io community reviews below.
Players appreciate the game's fast-paced arcade-style combat and fun cooperative mechanics, with some finding it worthwhile at a discount price, but significant technical issues plague the experience including poor hit detection, CPU optimization problems causing overheating, and AI enemies that get stuck on geometry or can be easily exploited by running past them. The core concept shows promise and the game is functional for casual play, though it needs substantial polish and balancing to justify a full price purchase.
Potential to be a fun game but the hit detection is abysmal and the enemies are brain dead and get stuck on the environment. It needs a lot of work but I do applaud the effort. Hopefully more will be done with it in the future.4 found this helpful
Assault On Proxima is a fast-moving science-fiction shooter developed by Delta Video Games and published by indie.io, built around the idea of constant action, cooperative firepower, and accessible arcade-style combat. Rather than chasing realism or simulation-heavy gunplay, the game embraces a bold, energetic approach that prioritizes responsiveness, spectacle, and momentum. From the moment players are dropped onto the hostile world of Proxima C5, the experience makes it clear that its primary goal is to deliver relentless combat and a steady stream of satisfying firefights. The setting frames humanity’s struggle against the alien Gacrux as a desperate last stand on the edge of known space. Players step into the role of Strike Force Delta operatives tasked with reclaiming overrun colonies, securing strategic outposts, and pushing back overwhelming extraterrestrial forces. While the narrative is straightforward and leans heavily on familiar sci-fi tropes, it provides enough structure to give missions context and urgency. Briefings and in-mission dialogue reinforce the sense of an ongoing war effort, helping the action feel purposeful even when the story takes a back seat to gunpla…3 found this helpful
This shows potential but is sadly unpolished. The game feels like it's meant to be played in 4 player coop and single player difficulty isn't scaled. However the worst thing is the hit detection and it sadly makes this unenjoyable. It is early accessed so some of these things maybe ironed out and if they are I'll reevaluate my review but I cannot recommend this game in it's current state.1 found this helpful
I was going to be kind on this and either just not review it or give it a loving soft thumbs down but for the crimes of maliciously bashing my cpu for no reason on levels 2,5 and after the boss battle where the end movie just hangs there while it says cpu utilization in the steam overlay is over 100% and slowly rising into the 80's celcius I figure I should at least warn people against this alone. additionally I think every single boss enemy I just ran 10 feet to the nearest geometry cheese and they had no answer for it, standing there taking every shot until death. most every objective in the game can just be sprinted to and accomplished without engaging any enemies. I did like how there is consideration for soft lock events by providing backtrack, coop or checkpoint bounce pads for 1 way elevators and train platforms. I also liked how the environments are mostly open and you can run around and explore them if you choose. probably the most value this game offers is the pvp multiplayer. the developer has a conflicting statement in the community discussion area stating basically "yes there is bot support for the campaign and pvp" then they posted in the same thread basically saying …1 found this helpful
