Astral Blaze

Astral Blaze is a small free to play action roguelike that caught my attention because it mixes survival style combat with more traditional dungeon exploration. I am exploring the ruins of an old city with a group of adventurers, following the clues from a mysterious diary while looking for a supposed treasure. The story is there if I want it, but it stays fairly light and does not get in the way of the actual gameplay. Most of my time is spent moving through dungeons, fighting enemies and trying to build a character that can survive what comes next. The combat is the part I enjoy most. The controls are simple, but the game has a unique dash attack that gives movement a much bigger role than I expected. I am not just standing back and attacking everything. I have to move around enemies, avoid incoming attacks and use the dash at the right moment. The bullet hell elements can make some encounters quite hectic, especially when the screen starts filling with attacks. It gives the otherwise simple combat a nice bit of energy.
