I kind of hate leaving a negative review on a small indie game. And I was actually having some fun with it, but there is so many smaller issues and readability issues that I can't really rec in its current state. I made it to the crab boss and I just kept get hit by what seemed to be a strange invisible force during some sections of the fight. Not sure if there was a projectile or something else that I was missing. But I was pretty positive up to that point that I ignored some major negatives honestly. Lowering the resolution at any point will break something, either the boss health bar or the menus. I do like the nice look of the various levels and how, well varied they are, but the enemies tend to get kind of bloated. And the missile enemies themselves tend to kind of get spammed in certain levels. Honestly, if it wasn't for the strange crab glitch I would have finished the game, but ultimately I kind of had to call it quits. I'll keep an eye on the devs, and if they do patch it or update it I'll come back to it later.1 found this helpful
I don't like leaving a negative review for both an indie game and a game I only played for so short a time, but I have to be honest I did not enjoy my experiance. I didn't enjoy the gameplay, level design, vissual design and above all the humor. It was like they looked at star fox 64 and went "Right! People largely remember how silly it was!" and took that to the extreme. I'm not one to say ST64 wasn't silly at times, but the joy of that was the contrast of some characters taking this super seriously while you have others like the truck drive train guy saying "step on the gas" in the same stock voice line over and over But what really got me was doing the third level for the fourth time because I did the instinct mode while making contact with a surface which caused me to hit it 6 times in a row killing me instantly I think this needs more time in the oven
Look, I like star fox 64 as much as the next person. I want more of that. And I see ALOT of potential in this game. But, things just move too fast in this game. My charecter moves too fast, the second level is confusing, and moves too fast. I see alot of good in it, but it is just too fast for me.
Astrodogs is a fast-paced on-rails space shooter developed by Dynamic Media Triad and published by Digital Tribe. Drawing clear inspiration from classic arcade rail shooters, it delivers a colorful, action-driven experience that blends tight combat mechanics with a playful sci-fi premise. Rather than aiming for sprawling open-world exploration, Astrodogs focuses on structured missions, reflex-based gameplay, and replayability rooted in score chasing and mechanical mastery. You take control of Kombo, a skilled pilot and leader of the Astrodogs — a group of canine bounty hunters navigating a galaxy threatened by a corrupt interstellar corporation. The narrative is intentionally light and humorous, providing a framework for missions without overwhelming the gameplay. Dialogue and character portraits add personality, reinforcing the game’s whimsical tone. While the story remains straightforward, it complements the arcade format by giving each mission context and momentum. Gameplay unfolds across a series of on-rails levels where movement is guided along preset paths, allowing players to concentrate entirely on aiming, dodging, and timing. Combat is energetic and layered, featuring a …
A cute homage to Starfox 64 that could've used a bit more polish.
A cute and charming homage to Star Fox! If you are interested in arcade-y shoot em ups of that style this would fit right up your alley.
