About Atom☭grad

You've made your way from the USA to the town of
Atomograd, and gained access to a computer that
controls their nuclear weapons. You are the only one
who can prevent total nuclear annihilation.

From the maker of the cult hit 128k!
Translate the language, decrypt the computer, and save the world.

How does it work?

Atomograd (stylized Atom☭grad) is a point 'n click computer simulation game, where you have to do everything in your power to disable the nuclear weapons in a cold war-era Soviet nation.

You play as an American agent who managed to break into a Soviet air base, in the region of Atomograd. You sit down in front of an old 80's computer with the mission to disarm the nuclear warheads, but it turns out to be a more challenging task than you though it would be. Every line of text and every recording is in a foreign language you don't recognize. All you have to your aid is an morse based messaging system, and your personal sense of linguistic pattern recognition.
Search through documents, video clips and chat logs to decrypt the mysterious computer in this first ever linguistic puzzler to save the world from nuclear demise!

✦ AI summary

Atom☭grad offers an immersive, atmospheric puzzle experience with an intriguing concept and spooky vibe, but it's severely hampered by obscure puzzles with insufficient clues and unclear hints that leave most players stuck and frustrated. The game's solutions often rely on interpreting cryptic details or foreign language text without meaningful guidance, making progression feel arbitrary rather than rewarding, and many players resort to external help or cheats to advance. While some appreciate the challenging escape-room style gameplay and unique setting, the lack of clear direction undermines

There are very little clues in this game. Nothing ever hints to a solution, or anything at all. Most things are in a different language. It's Esperanto. For a long time, I wondered if I'm supposed to learn Esperanto so I could understand the recorded speech. But after four hours of play time, I was ready to start cheating. I looked in the game files and found the solution to the first puzzle in this game. Then, I went back and look for anything that could have signified that. There was one 320x120 photo in the game with some text in another language. One of those words was the solution. Now, I ask the world one thing. How in the hell was anyone supposed to figure that out!?!? There are thousands of words equally as likely to be the answer. You are told that the answer was a sister's name. But the image was a boy in it! Nothing in the entire game ever hints in anyway that that one random word you found was the one you're looking for. I gave up after that point, because the next hint was even more vague, and finding the solution was a guessing game. I had actually figured out other unrelated and unhelpful puzzles unguided in the time I took looking for the answer to the first on…

Wish I could recommend Atom☭grad, it's a cool vibe. But unfortunately as a game, it falls flat. The breadcrumbs and puzzles are just not very clear, and based on the Steam discussions, I'm not sure how many people are solving the game without direct help from the developer, which is disappointing. I solved a few steps alone, and got completely stuck, with misleading or unusable red herrings. Haven't been able to make more progress since then, and I'm not convinced there's much more to be found.

i might be stupid but this game has no real path with no one talking about it and the concept is great but it is not clear

Really nice atmosphere and subtle effects. It gives a sort of spooky feeling throughout. Gameplay, like others have said, is closer to an escape room, where you need to figure out certain things to progress. The game would benefit if the hints were more obvious or the puzzles a bit less obscure, to avoid unnecessary frustration.

Short and challenging puzzle game. Nice setting, very immersive. Is it flawless? Definetely not. But I do still recommend it because overall it's a good experience based on what is delivered and on the price point.
