About Awakeroots
0% AI - 100% hand-drawnAwakeroots is a hand-drawn game created out of passion by two brothers - a programmer and an artist - set in a world inspired by Slavic folklore. You take on the role of settlers - pioneers on wild, mythical lands, where every day is a fight for survival. Build walls, workshops, and traps to protect your settlement from threats. Cultivate the land, harvest crops, and feed your people before night falls. Both day and night, the world becomes hostile and dangerous, filled with mysteries and mythical creatures... Survive as long as you can.Game Modes:Free Mode – survive as long as possible and try to reach the highest number of days. (Available)Campaign – complete missions focused on hunting monsters to obtain unique artifacts that can be used in other playthroughs, including multiplayer mode. (First mission available in late April.)Multiplayer Co-op Mode (BETA) – multiplayer mode is already available! I am still working on improving synchronization and stability, but you can already invite your Steam friends and play together. The full, stable version will be released in May 2026.
🧭 Explore wild lands, discovering resources, minerals, and plants used to craft potions, meals, weapons, traps, armor, and building materials. The deeper you venture into the wilderness, the higher the chance of encountering wandering travelers and traders offering exotic goods.🌱 Plant and harvest a wide variety of crops - berries, vegetables, grains, and cultivated plants that ensure your settlers’ survival, can be traded with merchants, and used to prepare nourishing meals.🏗️ Start with nothing and build your settlement from the ground up. Create workshops and storage buildings, reinforce walls and fences, prepare traps, and protect your crops from animals and monsters.👹 Face creatures from Slavic legends - Leshies, Rusalkas, Noonwraiths, Vodniks, and other dark beings inhabiting dense forests, as well as wild animals lurking in the wilderness.🛒 Explore the map and find wandering merchants who carry rare and unusual goods. Some items cannot be crafted on your own and are sometimes essential ingredients for creating unique equipment.

Players praise this early access survival management game for its unique Slavic folklore theme, charming hand-drawn art style, and engaging gameplay that blends Don't Starve mechanics with village management. However, they note the game still feels undercooked with interface issues like lacking automatic food consumption and various bugs that need polish. The active developer support and frequent updates give players confidence the game has solid potential, making it worth trying despite its rough early access state.
A fun little game. It feels a bit like Age of Empires, but instead you control a small group of villagers who need to survive against attacks. There are some interface and management issues, (It would be really helpful if villagers consumed food automatically) but these could be easily fixed by an active developer. The demo was updated very frequently, and now that the game is in early access, more consistent updates will only make the game better.8 found this helpful

obviously its not finished and there are some game mechanics and bugs to work out ...but its a great management clicker... Not a bad game I'm having fun following along with the weekly updates would recommend2 found this helpful
The game has a long way to go, but it has the potential to be sandbox kino. For being so early in development, it's balanced very well. The premise is simple: gather resources to build slavic weapons to kill hordes of high fantasy slavic beings. Buildings don't cost very much and characters level up fast. New characters deal a fair amount of damage so there's no real consequence for your settlers dying. The game doesn't waste your time like so many other sandbox survival games. The only real problems with the game are the glitches and the fact that you can't pause time from the menus, making it hard to strategize. I feel like these issues could be easily fixed tho. I would recommend this kino at full price tbh.1 found this helpful
The art, the core gameplay, and the freedom the game gives you are absolutely fantastic. The fog of war system is really good too, although I do think fire only lighting up about three tiles is a bit of a tiny radius for my taste. Other than that, it's great. The combat sheep, rabbits, foxes, and basically every other animal are just fun. The game itself honestly deserves a 9/10 because the foundation is incredible, even though it's nowhere near finished. BUT... The QoL features feel like they NEVER EXISTED. THEY JUST AREN'T THERE. The controls are an absolute nightmare. It's like buying a Lamborghini that can only drive in a straight line, no brakes, no steering, no gearbox. You pull out of the garage and instantly die. That's what playing the game feels like right now. It's genuinely tragic. There is SO MUCH potential here. I can absolutely see myself sinking 1,500 hours into this game... ...BUT NOT TODAY. Today, after just two characters, the whole thing becomes a nightmare to manage. Then, with three characters, I accidentally loaded an old save instead of saving, lost my progress, closed the game, and was literally one click away from refunding it. Yes, it was techni…1 found this helpful
Imagine an early access version of Dont Starve Together, but from the Lens of Slavic Lore.....its still a bit early, but it feels like the devs have a solid sense of how they want to develop this game. The rendering is a nice story book, hand drawn style, and the music is chill. What sets this one apart from the sea of other survival games? Well, its the fact that there isnt alot of Slavic folktale survival games and its cool to see a dev take interest in this. From this game I got Thea The Awakening vibes and Konung vibes from it. Also, there is a darkness element similar to the game, Gord, but unlike gord this game is actually interesting. If you are looking for a casual survival game, love talking to the devs, and really have an interest in some awesome folk history, I recommend you give this game a try. It is in early access though, but for the very low price its not a bad deal.1 found this helpful
