About Backroom Beyond
Backroom Beyond is essentially a first-person game that mixes puzzles with platforms in a dark, harrowing environment that makes the player question the protagonist's sanity. Based on the internet myth, Backroom Beyond goes further and makes the player wonder if that journey is about something more personal than anything else.
The game basically has one objective throughout its 40 stages: place the red box over the button and open the door to the next stage. It seems simple at first, but it's not. Each environment has its own logic. If the player feels frustrated because something went wrong in his strategy, he can press the “born again” button, which will return him to the beginning of the level.
Each box has a logic.
Red: You can just push it and it's the only one that activates the buttons that open the doors.
Blue: It can only be pushed, and used to climb when it is necessary to climb to higher places.
Greens: It's the only carryable box. It is possible to throw it and also climb on top of it.
Shovel: When a box gets stuck in a corner it is possible to use a shovel to remove it from there.
The narrative has two main points. Drawings tell part of the game's story on the walls. The drawings have no defined authorship, which gives them an extra degree of strangeness. The second point is the existence of the guide, a being that instigates the player to think about his actions and even confuse his feelings with those of the main character.
Each scenario has a part of the story to be told, whether in the subway, in the snow, in the house, or in an actual backroom. Each place has its dose of tension and reflection.
The theme song chosen is Pérolas Irregulares by the band Terceiro Mundo Bom, whose clip has many similarities with the game's project.
Formation: Diogo Brandão (Voice)
Robson Riva (Drums)
Marcos Almir (Guitars)
Guga Leão (Bass)
I want to thank everyone who can have fun with this game and also who can enjoy the song Pérolas Irregulares by the talented musicians of the band Terceiro Mundo Bom.

Backroom Beyond is overall extremely repetitive. The worst part about playing it is that there is such little reward for completing each room. Your only reward is to simply start the next area. The game has an interesting subject matter, but the overall gameplay just isn’t fun for too long. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=36261005644 found this helpful
★☆☆☆☆ Backroom Beyond was a major letdown. The levels are painfully long, they feel uninspired and lacking any real engagement. What should have been a tense, atmospheric experience quickly turns into a monotonous walk through dull environments. The soundtrack is minimal with just one main track (and an alternate that plays in rare moments) which quickly becomes more annoying than immersive. You’d expect something eerie with a name like "Backroom Beyond" but instead it centers around moving a cube from place to place. If you're looking for something that captures the eerie, unsettling feel of the backrooms, this isn't it. It’s hard to recommend this to anyone.3 found this helpful
It’s alright, definitely not amazing. If the lag was fixed, the movement improved, and multiplayer was added, it could be a really good game. But right now it’s pretty mid. Hope the dev keep updating it and make it better.1 found this helpful
Just a mid puzzle game with a Backrooms coat on it. It doesn't even take any of the other famous ones besides 0 so you can't get any fun out of seeing how they adapted the other levels, and none of the puzzles are even related to the Backrooms either1 found this helpful
This game has just constant puzzles and uses the backrooms as a way to promote itself. I got through 5 puzzles and got bored immediately...
If you love portal and the weirdness of the back rooms 10/10. Plus, there is Steve the shovel that loves to break dance in the floors, and shovel Dan who will vanish in the walls if you sass shovel Steve. Really grate game glitches and all. really like this game I mean it.
