Bajka

I would not really call Bajka a traditional game. It feels more like a playable poem with light interactivity. The art is beautiful, very reflective and softly colorful in a prismatic way. The tone is somber and almost heavenly, like you are walking through someone’s memory after they have moved on. The music fits that feeling perfectly and never pulls you out. There are a couple of small interactive bits and mini game style moments, and they are cute. Also, do not touch the bunnies. You will learn. It is short and it is more experience than gameplay, so I do not think it is fair to judge it like a full adventure. But as a quiet, artsy, sit down and breathe piece, I liked it a lot. If you enjoy slow, emotional, painterly games and you are okay with a smaller experience, Bajka is worth it.

《Bajka》 is truly taxing on the eyes, and playing it makes me dizzy. This is mainly due to the light pollution effects. The developer’s first game, Rememoried, I thought was excellent, but this Bajka feels a bit overdone. Adjusting the graphics quality high or low makes no difference—after all, the entire texture material is essentially light pollution. It’s just a matter of severe light pollution versus even more severe light pollution. I originally thought I had relatively high resistance to light pollution. After all, although many people were put off by the light pollution effects in Rememoried, I found it very beautiful. I didn’t feel any discomfort from the light pollution or 3D motion sickness at all. I played it more than once, with a total playtime of over nine hours. However, with Bajka, after just a little over an hour of play, I actually felt dizzy—I was quite surprised myself. That said, the music is fantastic. The gameplay itself is simple: walk around collecting gems and admiring the unique scenery. If you just stand still and look into the distance, it’s still quite beautiful. I liked the game! It has nice visuals and a good atmosphere. I got lost while playing. I think what I enjoyed the most was the way I could focus and kinda meditate while playing. The messages along the game are cute.

I was given a copy to play and review and I must say I would gladly buy it to support the devs. This stunning visual adventure pulls at all the right heartstrings, allows you to freely flow through the glittering landscape and never has a moment I didn't enjoy. Fans of emotional story telling games that are more journey than true game will love this. The music is captivating and doesn't detract from the mission you find yourself on. Don't sleep on Bajka, this masterpiece should be enjoyed by all.
