BANANO BROS. is a simple little arcade game that feels like it was made to give me that old school score chasing feeling without adding a load of unnecessary systems. I am controlling a monkey that keeps climbing upwards while I try to avoid obstacles, collect bananas and survive for as long as I can. The screen keeps moving and there is always another obstacle coming, so the main goal is basically to see how far I can get and whether I can beat my previous score. It is a very simple idea, but I think it suits this kind of short arcade game pretty well. The climbing itself is more interesting than I expected. I am not just moving left and right across a normal platform. The monkey can stick to vertical surfaces and somersault across the screen to reach another one, which gives the movement a nice rhythm once I get used to it. I have to judge where I am going to land while also watching out for insects and coconuts. Collecting the bananas can also increase my score, so there is a small risk and reward decision between playing safely and going for a better run.
