Battle Suit Aces

The gameplay is addicting and the game is fully voiced so it feels like I'm playing a really good mecha anime. I only regret that I didn't play it sooner. The queer representation is also great if you're looking for a game with good vibes.

This is a pretty chill card battler. I like the art style and general feel of the game. It's like a playing in an old saturday morning cartoon. Don't take it too seriously and it's fun.

One cool point of differentiation is that it's story-based, with no half-hearted attempt at roguelike elements to ride that wave (though there is a full-hearted separate roguelike mode, making this pretty great value for money). This was the main draw for me; if I want to play a deckbuilder endlessly Slay the Spire 2 is right there. Ignore those trashtalking the campaign – it's got a fun sci-fi anime vibe, engaging story, and the voice actors do fine work. I'm enjoying the various personalities and the thought put into the enemy designs. Or maybe those crapping on the story can't abide diversity in people and backgrounds. Either way, either you live to put down others and are already voting up the other haters or you're still on board. Still here? Welcome! The main game is a fun lane battler card game. You have to balance the various mana types, ability triggers, and combos. Thus far I've felt like I've had tricky decisions to make and am looking forward to more pre-game deckbuilding. Enjoyable! This game is one of the most fun, well made, engaging games I’ve played in a long time with a new level of replayability thanks to the Roguelike addition. The art, sound, voice acting, and relationships are all top notch. Highly recommend.

Mecha Space Opera Card Game wasn't something I ever expected to see, but it blends the card game mechanics, crew management and visual novel storytelling very well! The card game itself takes a moment to learn, and it takes its time to introduce new elements, complications and combinations. It maybe takes a bit long before you can properly start managing your deck, but when you get there it's really fun to set up wild synergies with many cool characters! The art and designs of characters, robots and creatures is fantastic, though I wish more of the art were in the same polished state. Some are sketches, I assume due to a lack of time or funding. Some parts are oddly paced as well, narratively it's kinda hard to tell how much time is going by, and sometimes it feels like scenes and stories move by quickly. It takes a lot of inspo from both classic and modern anime, often feeling like an episodic series that we only get snapshots of. But this game got enough of the juice that I was only momentarily bothered by the pacing and unpolished art, as the characters and exciting battles shine!
