[b]In this game you play as a bacteria swimming through the veins of a human.[/b] You wake up with no recollection of life before, and no idea of what is happening, who or what you are. You slowly begin to piece the reality around you together as you explore and split into many You’s. The story explores morals and relationships as well as the sense of self. Though it isn’t exactly groundbreaking, its simplicity gives it a raw quality that I quite enjoy. I don’t personally tend to care much for the storylines of games, but Biorhythm has really struck a balance where it is both compelling but not intrusive, just popping up once in a while and in short intervals, which makes it all the more impactful for me. - Show, don’t tell. The concept of Biorhythm has given way to one really interesting and unique mechanic: you only move when the heart pumps and the blood around you moves, too. This mechanic is so cool and emerges you more into the game. The rhythmic thumping of the heart makes for a really interesting soundscape as you go through the game. When I discovered this game, I wasn't expecting a whole cinematic experience. It's a piece of art. This game triggered a variety of reactions in me, from muscle tension to deep relaxation, sadness, and even a feeling of malice. I was glued to the screen and didn't stop playing before I reached one ending. A bizarre concept, perfectly executed! It tells a story about bacteria, the human body; about disharmony, selfishness, the loss of self, and sense of identity. Despite the battle mechanic being challenging at certain times, it's implemented well. The battles were tense, required understanding of the mechanics, some sense for rhythm, and quick decision making as well as reaction speed ( - defense or attack?). The sound design is very atmospheric – I personally found it calming to hear the steady heartbeat while the bacteria moved. Even if you don't tolerate heartbeat sounds well, I would recommend the game: the bacteria moving in rhythm with the heartbeat can alleviate the restlessness and unpleasant feeling that comes with hearing a steady heartbeat. This game is beautiful. Calm. And interesting. The story is good. The art is good. The mechanic is novel. But not so easy. And can feel annoying at times. The game is on the hard side. Sometimes I wanted to give up. But something kept me playing. All in all. It was a beautiful experience. I would recommend it

A fun, short little game that tells an original and very human story without ever doing the easy thing and zooming out to the actual human you're inside of. If you play you will be pleasantly surprised.
