"Blackout!!" is a student project or something? Maybe? It's not great, that's for sure. This is a tower defense game with problems... mostly stuff that should have been fixed if the developer did adequate testing, issues like clipping, hitboxes being off, tower placement problems... that level of glitchiness combined with the mediocre visuals doesn't give this game much hope. In terms of visuals, this features fairly low quality low poly 3D visuals which will deter a lot of gamers, understandably. Gaming is a visual medium, and while some developers struggle with creating high quality visuals, failing to do so is a disservice to gamers. It's very difficult to recommend bad looking games. Not every "free" game really is. There's often MTX, or content locked behind DLC, or donations being requested, or any other number of things that could mislead gamers, but in this case I'm glad to say this really does appear to be a fully free game. Nothing demonstrates a developers belief in themselves and their work than giving it away without any remuneration. This is a service to themselves, and the gaming industry, and should be applauded. Blackout!! is a compact free-to-play action and tower-defense hybrid developed by Sun Studios and published by EVAD. Rather than following the traditional tower-defense formula in which players spend most of their time watching automated defenses handle incoming enemies, the game places the player directly on the battlefield. Its central concept combines defensive preparation, resource management, spell-based combat, and wave survival, producing an experience that feels more active than a conventional entry in the genre. The fantasy setting of Suwemba provides the backdrop, with players tasked with defending the land against invading Olrinds. The gameplay is built around two complementary phases. During preparation, crystals are used to establish defenses and strengthen positions before enemies arrive. Placement becomes important because the effectiveness of these defenses can determine how manageable the following battle will be. Once an assault starts, however, the player does not simply stand back and observe.
