81.2% of players dropped this before even getting 45 minutes in. The game feels pretty archaic and linear and is filled with kinda boring lever puzzles. It's an okay-ish linear platformer at best.5 found this helpful
I really like metroidvania's having by now played well over a hundred so i'm always on the lookout for new ones. Even those that look less polished i often give a shot, as there's sometimes real gems found there. I'm also a big fan of mesoamerican settings and mythos which i feel like are very underused in gaming so a metroidvania in this setting? Sign me up, like i said there's always the chance it's gonna be a hidden gem. Unfortunately bleeding deities isn't a gem as it does so many things fundamentally wrong that it not only fails to be a good mv, it fails to be a good gamer alltogether. From clunky controls, frustrating combat, repetitive progression to even the simple things like QoL the game just doesn't have much going for it other than visuals and even those aren't all that impressive. From the getgo bleeding deities started off on the wrong foot, with an opening cutscene that kept going and going. I'm not a brainrotted millenial with no attention span but do you really have to add filler lines every other sentence in your opening cutscene? Better yet this exposition establishes that you are saving your brothers but not even a minute later it says you pick up your sister o…3 found this helpful
Can not recommend this, controls are bad, and for a Metroidvania it is very linear. As a game it is not too bad but, it has a lot of issues, Got softlocked once and had to restart due stuck in the starting area after wanting to explore if there was more to it, lever not worked so doors stayed close, after dying the door backwards was also close, so stuck. At the end of the game also after the credits the game crashed and not responded, and it deleted my save file somehow due that as well. Als the last area no way of returning makes all the XP and Gold useless at the end. Can't fully upgrade and you are kinda forced in endgame as well after deafeating the first 4 main bosses, since it destorys the teleporter you use to get back to the other areas, locking them out.1 found this helpful
I ran into issues from the beginning, with it being difficult and inconsistent with skipping cutscenes or dialogue. Audio swapped between too quiet to hear (thankfully there was text/subtitles) and the music/sfx being incredibly loud. The camera moved a considerable amount, often swaying after players and rushing across the stage to whichever door had been opened which was a little nauseous. The cutscenes were long and in some gameplay sections unskipable, and gameplay had little indication of what was a checkpoint. Sometimes I'd almost finish a section only to be met with one of the many times the controls decide to disagree with my input and kill me in an insta-death pit (annoying in Blasphemous and annoying here too), only to drop me off arbitrarily at the beginning of the level. mid-bosses had little fanfare and since there is no indication of how you are supposed to heal or open up inventory in the tutorial I rammed my head against it. When I went to check for some way to use those herbal infusions I kept picking up I suddenly found that I could only exit the game, removing all my progress on the level and making me redo the mid-boss. On top of that, the controls are bound b…1 found this helpful
I cannot recommend this: - Literally no effort made with preventing unity stutter or optimizing the game - stupid and annoying death animation for human enemies - Way too much exposition (at least it can be skipped though) - instant kill spikes everywhere1 found this helpful
Oh man where to start... The game seems to stutter or something. The screen shake is so violent I cant even see when an enemy is attacking me back. Its overwhelmingly disorienting and there isnt an option to disable screen shake either. You cant access the options menu from the game itself. You have to exit to the main menu to change any settings. The "look down" feature takes way too long to work. The graphics are great and the controls are tight but the screen shake makes the game so miserable.
