A solid, if flawed, little horror-ish walking simulator. You are exploring what happened with the crew of a remote outpost, There is no light, so you have to cast lidar dots in order to see the environment. It's not very well defined why you can't have light, yet computers and other machines are powered up, but just go with it. Most of the gameplay consists of exploring the environments and casting lidar dots on things, to see what's happening. You read an occasional log unrolling the plot. There is also some platforming, light puzzles (connecting power cords) and avoiding automated turrets and other things. Writing is servicable, but nothing special. I was intrigued enough at least to unroll it until the end. The biggest flaw of the game is how painting the environment is handled. All dots are permanent (and are in fact scored at the end). Which means your lidar gun isn't all that fast. Which means you'll spend quite a bit of time just casting dots around, This is,,, *fine*. Even a bit therapeutic. I suspect scratching that same itch as when trad RPG nerds draw their own maps. What's less fine is if you die, reload an auto-save and have to reveal the environment aga…

While i think that the gameplay is very much fun because of it's way of actually using horror elements like monsters and chases in the lidar genre, i am a bit disappointed of the pretty much ignorable story. I feel like the main point of the story, (beeing a convict that works of his sentence) could be used way more interestingly than just measuring how long it took you to play through the game. The tablets you can find, which explain the story, are rarely interesting, and honestly allmost wouldnt make a difference if ignored. Replay value is also allmost nonexistent. The Achievements are way to grindy to be fun. TL;DR: Only good review because good gameplay. Ignorable story, bad achievements, replay value: none. Go play The Voidness if you want good lidar horror

Fantastic game. Very unique and fun. Would definitely recommend giving it a shot.
