Bridge Constructor 1 is the standard I use for all bridge building games. This one is more simple and has some things I don't like, but has its own gimmicks and otherwise straightforward gameplay that makes it fun and worth playing. I would like to have seen multiple challenges/vehicles for each bridge, but really for most maps the threshold for getting a perfect is so tight there's not much room for creativity with your design if you're going to 100%. Like its predecessor, you can't turn off grid snapping to really maximize the structural integrity, however supports feel a bit more fragile in this game adding a bit of frustration at times. I mostly played on Deck and I think the controller controls need a little work, but overall very decent. Can't speak for VR. I really appreciate that this game doesn't give in to having wacky puzzles- we're building bridges here, not an obstacle course like Polybridge often asks for. I spent about 10 hours playing the game, making it a very satisfying length and good value (not that I would have a problem with more)1 found this helpful
Works on Reverb G2. It is a miniature bridge building sim/puzzle. Diorama-like visuals look good in VR, controls are simple and intuitive, and the gameplay is fun in any media. I've never played any of the games in this series, and enjoyed the campaign. Difficulty and complexity curves of the levels are smooth, no prior knowledge of building bridges required. Beating the budget limit is optional, but it is very enjoyable if you like solving optimization issues. The only things the campaign is missing is an online leaderboards and a level editor.1 found this helpful
Is good, but only lasts 10 - 15 hours1 found this helpful
Great fun! Bad bridges are funny. Great ones are satisfying works of art.
Many of the other bridge constructor games are much more restrictive in terms of budget (and the original still doesn't have the ability to disable budget like the devs said they would add), this one seems to be much better balanced to give you a challenge without being painful. It also has some nice quality of life improvements compared to older Bridge Constructor games. Only other game in the Bridge Constructor series I enjoyed as much was the Portal game, and that one swapped budget goals for the convoy goal (much more fun I found). That said, the concrete pillars are basically pointless if you are aiming for the gold screw on a level, they are WAY too expensive to be useful when trying to stay under budget.
Nice casual game. First solve it and then optimize your construction. It took me 4-5hrs to unlock all achievements. More materials and more challenging build would have been nice.
