About Bug Alliance

ENTER THE SWARM

Bug Alliance is a top-down Action Roguelite where every run is a new experiment—and every level-up is a real decision. Fight through escalating waves, shape your build through upgrades and Synergies, and earn your progress across a story-driven campaign that rewards mastery.

THE STORY

Earth didn’t just fall—it turned desperate. As forests vanished and survival collapsed, humans engineered bugs to last longer… then escalated into cruelty: breeding, reshaping, and enslaving entire species as food, tools, and weapons. The swarms mutated, fought back, and forced humanity from the planet—yet not all of them died. A remnant fled, watching from afar. In the silence that followed, three Queens rose to unite the surface and form Volucris—while far beneath, the leftovers of human experiments continued to evolve into something far worse.

KEY FEATURES:

Alright so I picked this up on a whim, played it for like few (not counting demo plays) hours straight and here I am writing a review at midnight so make of that what you will. It's a wave survival roguelite — bugs, top-down, you level up and pick upgrades. Nothing you haven't heard before. But the build system here actually has teeth. There's this synergy mechanic where if you push a weapon or ability far enough it transforms into something way stronger, and chasing that in every run becomes kind of addicting. Some runs you never get there. Some runs everything lines up and you feel unstoppable. That gap is what keeps you coming back. Story is locked behind difficulty clears which I actually respect. You don't just get handed it — you earn it. Chaos mode is pure chaos in a good way, curse cards keep stacking and at some point you're just barely surviving and loving every second of it. It's Early Access so yeah, content is still coming — only a few story chapters in right now and I definitely wanted more by the end. More maps would be welcome too. But honestly for the price? I've paid way more for games I dropped after an hour. This one I had to force myself to stop playing. If …

The game is currently in early access, so the amount of content is still limited, but what is here already gives a good idea of what to expect. The gameplay follows the survivors like formula, with the objective being to survive waves of enemies until you defeat a boss and complete the stage. The main mode is story based, with stages progressing one after another. However, unlocking the next stage requires a bit more effort. After completing a stage on regular difficulty, you unlock its hard difficulty, and you need to beat that as well before moving forward. In short, each stage needs to be completed twice before the next one becomes available. The rest of the gameplay follows the usual formula for the genre. You choose a character, equip a starting weapon, abilities, and gear, and then begin your run. There are four characters in total, although only the first one is available initially. The others need to be unlocked by completing specific requirements. The same system applies to the rest of your loadout. Characters, weapons, abilities, and gear all come with their own stats and perks, giving you plenty of reasons to experiment with different combinations. During a run, your m…

Bug Alliance is a top-down action roguelite that combines frantic swarm combat with character progression, randomized upgrades, and an unusual post-apocalyptic world dominated by genetically altered insects. Developed and published by Ent-Re Games, it takes a recognizable survival formula and gives it personality through specialized bug warriors, evolving equipment, escalating difficulty levels, and a narrative that gradually explains how humanity lost control of its own creations. As an Early Access game, it is still growing, but its existing systems already provide a solid framework for repeated runs and experimentation. The setting is one of its more memorable qualities. After environmental collapse threatens civilization, humanity turns to genetically modified insects for purposes ranging from food production to warfare. The consequences are disastrous, leaving Earth largely under the control of powerful insect societies. The Three Queens and their alliance under Volucris provide the background for a world that initially appears humorous but contains a surprisingly serious science-fiction premise. Story chapters and lore material reward players who want context beyond simply d…

TLDR: Missing important parts, cool combos hidden, lore = haha jokes on you there isn't any lore. Decent game at start but takes a nose dive and crashes Hard. the initial plays are fun and you feel the base of a rogue like game. but that ends quickly. Upon playing a while you start to unlock synergies right, nope those are hidden even if you have gotten Both parts needed. what about story or lore, nope FU, kill 10k enemies first. now that you have killed 10k enemies we can tell you that Bob's name is "Bob", seriously WTF. But don't worry rogue likes allow you to upgrade thing out of mission, that's a key progression of rogue like games, its what drives the ability to do more and feel more BA. the game provides a resource called Essence, a purple resource that drops and says its "used for permanent upgrades for characters". I have 75K, my first character is level 50, I have completed the first 2 maps on normal and hard, I have a few achievements and my gear is upgraded to level 50. But after playing for hours and going through every aspect of each menu I'm lost. What is the essence actually used for? Why make a resource a reward for daily challenges if you cant use it? Since i cant…
