HIGHLY RECOMMEND, flat out, no questions please. A fantastic take on the RTS sci fi scene, Byte Lynx puts you in control of an AI essentially fighting for survival against other AI's using real world physical pieces- but no "units". It's all about cutting off your opponents network, or simply taking over it! With an interesting back story, optional side missions, and unlocking new power ups at each mission completion, BL is a real joy to play. A little longer on the learning scale, making full use of all the tools at your discretion takes some getting used to, but the game can be played fully without utilizing them all. Worth every dollar at regular price, IMO could have been priced higher. Update: completed the game! still worth every penny, at around 20 hours! took my time on some missions, failed a few, wonderful game all the way through. Could have a little more wrap up to the story but otherwise 5 stars.1 found this helpful
Creative tactics game, all about flanking and outmaneuvering your oppent despite the fact that everyone only has buildings. If the enemy sends a pile of turrets into your base, just circle around and steal it.
Byte Lynx is a tower defence real time strategy game with aspects of ground control and base building. Towers can be built as static defences or placed on platforms for dynamic attacks on the opponent. All buildings must be linked to be controlled, giving a unique take on real time strategy games, in that you can cut off and assimilate chucks of the opponent’s defences and attack force. The story is interesting although minimal, with dialogue as text on screen, and forms all of the playthrough; there are no skirmishes or multiplayer options. There is a map editor with workshop support but it's not what you'd expect to quickly jump into a map as with other strategy games. Really enjoyable as a single player for a few hours.
Fun and unique single player strategy expirience!
Rather good game, but developers have made crucial mistake of "making an RTS" instead of making a fun game. Thus, either you play on lower difficulty where there is no challenge at all, or on higher difficulties, where instead of doing gameplay you need to exercise APM. Overall, however, a positive experience.
