Calamity Cait

This is a good yuri visual novel. It tells the very simple story of a workplace romance over just a few days and it's just...very real, while also still being really entertaining. It captures all of the awkwardness of having a work crush, asking someone out, hooking up with someone for the first time, etc., in excruciating yet somehow beautiful detail. It isn't very long, but the MC is super endearing and I feel strangely attached to her (perhaps because she reminds me a bit of my younger self.) While I think the grounded writing and characters are this VN's greatest strength, the 3D environments and beautiful sky make for a super unique vibe, too.

Still playing, it's a very sweet, mellow story, with a beautiful art style and a wonderfully f***d-up person as our lead. Peachy ! A bit too linear, though. I think that's the kind of story when I want my choices to really impacty : change what I do, where I go, with whom I talk..making different experiences out of repeated playthroughs.

A beautiful visual novel about feeling out of place. It feels very meditative and manages to feel comforting despite some of the dark themes explored. I really enjoyed it.

Short and beautiful...

Admittedly, I didn't finish it so my opinion may not be worth much, but I did have reasons. I don't like when my VNs are interrupted by walking sims (partly because I don't have a mouse ready). Having to click twice (once to "continue", once to actually pick your next line) to advance dialogue is tedious. The transitions (everything in general tbh) are slow. And to top it all off the writing didn't click for me, I didn't really see a personality beyond "sad and witty" and [i]that[/i]'s a personality I'm rather bored of. There's probably a touching story somewhere, but I don't want to fight through the slog to get to it. (Maybe that's the point, I get that some stories/games are slow on purpose, but I don't [i]like it[/i]. Depressed monotony "gameplay" is [i]boring[/i].)

For every 100 AI slop the steam discovery queue throws at you. There will always be a free stylish visual novel with cool writing and story like this game waiting for you.
