About Camouflet
Camouflet is a short, tense, first-person mining game.
During the great war, you, a recaptured miner, are placed in a fighting tunnel under the front lines. All alone with just a shovel, you must recover lost weaponry, reopen passages and place found explosives at your objectives.
Upon completion, your conviction will be overturned.
This is one of the most heavily guarded sections of the frontline but don't worry, there are always more escapees we can send down.
Game duration 1-2 hours
Build your labyrinth

You must consider how you dig your tunnels. Long straight tunnels are death traps with nowhere to hide. Remembering to construct alcoves or escape tunnels can buy you just enough time to get away or draw your pistol.
While you dig to them. They dig to you…
Recover lost tools

Once an active fighting mine, search for bullets, grenades and camouflet charges. Left behind by the previous workers, check your map for locations with potential weaponry as well as explosives you need to plant at enemy foundations. Some caches may not have been known by your officers...
Use sound to your advantage

While the chalk of arras is quiet to dig through, bullets bombs and smacking your shovel on wooden beams are not. Soldiers will instinctively try to search for you. Careful placement of camouflets at the right time can take out multiple enemies at once saving precious ammunition.
Discover tunnel 397

With military plans, miners' notes and frantic scratching's discover why this particular tunnel was named “À nulle part” - “To nowhere”.
Notes can provide helpful information on your task underneath the soil.
Enemy forces are not the only danger.

Cavins, traps and gas leaking from the walls can make traversal a stressful ordeal. Be aware of your surroundings, watch where you walk and check your vision for blurriness or distorted hearing.
Count your ammo

The resources you pick up are finite. They are lost on use.
You can also select ammo to be lost on death for a greater challenge. The only safe way of storing them is to not pick them up. Do arm yourself now? Or remember their location for the next convict.

✦ AI summary
Players praise the game's unique WWI underground setting and atmospheric horror experience, though opinions vary on how well it executes. The main complaints center on frustrating gameplay balance, particularly overpowered AI enemies with aimbot-like accuracy and unfair advantages in detection and ammunition compared to the player's limited resources. Most agree the game has an interesting concept but feels overpriced for its length and content, with better value found during sales.
Short but tense, I'm glad I bought and played this game for the experience. I wouldn't say it fantastic (I don't know what drugs this other reviewer takes) but for the price I paid on sale, it's alright!2 found this helpful
A very atmospheric game that had me actually scream when i first died. Absolutely fantastic. Great job!!!2 found this helpful
TL;DR: Very good game with unique setting and gameplay, but much too expensive for what you get. Camouflet was a game that I had my eye on for a while and as it was sold half off at the last sale I finally got it. One thing upfront: as much as I will sing this game's praises in this review, it only is worth the half price it's currently sold for. The amount of content and replayability does not warrant 5€ or so. That said, the game is still unique in many ways. First of all, there is the setting: there are not many WWI games and this is one of only two I know that plays underground (the other being Amnesia: The Bunker) and the only one that treats the mine war aspect of WWI, which makes for a unique horror game setting. While there are a lot of horror games that play in abandoned mines, this is different in that the mine is not abandoned, which brings me to the story. We are a (probably) British deserter, whose sentence is a suicide mission: find four charges in the mines and bring them into the German mines to collapse them. For that, you are given only a couple of items: a flashlight, a blank map of the mines which you fill in as you go, and a shovel to dig tunnels to find a w…1 found this helpful

a lovely idea, but held back but the balance of the game, the Ai has aimbot and even you make no noise, they're so ready to shoot that the moment a pixel of you show a pixal of yourself you're being gunned down. They can actually use the camoflet effectivly, the distance of noise is the same once your in it's sphere, meaning you could be 3 bombs aways but sound like they're inches away. But the AI doesn't have this issue and can bomb you on a whim. You are restricted to a pitiful number of items, finding single shot pistols and grenades that bounce back to you. while the enamies have plentiful ammo supplies and you can't use anything after killing one. What I was hoping was to a fun little indie project, turned to an effort of quitely stalking in the dark to be gunned down by soldiers who blocked the tunnels ahead, and if you try to dig around they'll hear you and be watching whatever angle you try. It quickly becomes less about stealth and more luck of somehow the AI not being where you need to go. Because the AI are so quick on the draw with aimbot. And it crashed when I was about to plant the last bomb, so not wanting to play again I uninstalled and left it there.
eventually you run out of ammo and have to just keep running through tunnels until you either walk the mcguffin to the area or die on the way and restart.
