About Shellshock

You are a British soldier during WW1, trapped in an endlessly looping trench. To get out, you will need to reach the final trench by identifying any anomalous changes that were not there before. Carefully inspect the trench — things may not be as they seem!
  • If you spot an anomalous change, you have something to report. Go Left!
  • If you have nothing to report. Go Right!
Shellshock is a short anomaly hunting experience (up to 30 minutes) inspired by liminal spaces and psychological horror. If you correctly Identify any changes in the trench you will progress to the next loop.  If you do not correctly identify a change or you think there was a change when there wasn't, you'll go back to trench 0 and start again.  Your goal is the reach the final trench and escape.

Gameplay

  • There is nothing to report in the first trench.
  • Walk through all following trenches and look for changes.
  • Take your time. Pay attention.
  • Some changes are easy to spot; others are more difficult.
  • The trench is short, but the differences are randomised in each loop — sometimes there are no changes at all.
  • Once you are sure whether there is a change or not, exit using the appropriate door.

Features

  • Playtime is around 10–30 minutes depending on difficulty.
  • Difficulty level determines which trench number you must reach to escape.
  • Simple controls:
    WASD – Move
    Mouse – Look
    Shift - Run
    CTRL - Crouch
  • Controller supported
  • Anomalous changes in the trench will only occur once.
  • Anomalous changes will reset once all anomalies have been identified.
  • Anomalous changes can be manually reset from the options menu.
  • Some changes may include upsetting or graphic content related to themes of war and injury.

There's no game to be played. It's boring, obvious, and easy. 2/10.

Spot the difference with a WW1 theme! This game although short is fun and could be expanded upon. It's essentially a 'spot the difference' game with some anomilies being trickier to find than others. I'd like to see some combat, even minor, added for a more immersive experience and perhaps the use of tools and or weapons to solve puzzles would be great. More NPC variants would be good to see too, but I'm sure many changes and additions will be done in future updates. Just an FYI for the team, the 'most brutal war in history' was WW2 which created a death toll between 70-100+ million. This does not detract from the lives lost in the First World War, simply that when a statement is made it ought to be accurate.

a really fun game, me and a few friends played it together and the anomaly's where cool and leaned slightly into horror. we also ended up naming the three soldiers that where with us , Jorky George, sitty Steve, and weedy Wendy and the occupant for the fourth one that showed up rarely. my only criticism for the game was in the find them all I wish there were no repeats unless you failed and was sent back to trench 0 cause I was at trench 50 with 3 anomalies left and all I kept getting was repeats which really dragged out the experience. though 8/10 will comeback to play the update.

I like this game. There are no jumpscares (maybe one), but I like that the anomalies add the experience you can have on the battlefield - fear, madness, cold, death https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DhsF7fovznk
