Castle Defender (2026)

A concise 20 minute experience from a team of three who I assume are learning to make games. I applaud their effort! But there are some parts of this experience that are frustrating or unsatisfying. Some of the things are quality of life features that could be fixed with more development time, such as sound effects that randomly repeat themselves, a stiff jump mechanic, and the inability to manually quit a level or go back to the main menu without dying. Of the nine levels, around half of them are fairly frustrating, with features such as moving platforms that are not well in sync with each other, certain coins that you must die to reach, and pits you can fall into that, while they do not kill you, cannot be escaped from without voluntarily jumping into a spike and dying. It is possible that this project was made on a tight deadline, like for a game jam or school project, which excuses these defects to some degree. But regardless of the time frame, I strongly encourage this team to incorporate more playtesting before release in your next game, which will help you catch more of these frustrating spots ahead of time! Pretty short and simple but a nice platformer. Nice game for a break after a hard day's work. Difficulty started ramping up at level 3. Overall an enjoyable experience. Great to see a free game with no ads for once.

This game has a-lot of issues; the music is far too loud, no settings button to adjust volumes, esc key does not allow you to exit the game, no clear tutorial on how to play, and the gameplay feels sloppy. I would advise that you address these issues in your next game or fix them in this game. It would be very beneficial for the success of this game if you were to adjust the hit boxes for enemies/ and other entities that kill the player to be more forgiving.
