Nice tower design on simple-looking terrain and standard TD gameplay for an affordable price. The gameplay does not attempt to deviate from the norm. The goal is to protect the castle by positioning towers to thwart the enemy advance. It's game over if they get to the castle. The unique thing in the game is that the enemy path is not set. Even though the enemy will want to take the quickest route to the castle, you can prevent this by putting a tower directly in its path. The sole requirement is that the opponent always has at least one opening, thus you cannot entirely block the path. The terrain also plays a role. Even if you construct a solid wall of towers on the ground, an enemy with the ability to fly or swim will simply take the quickest route across the lake. Stars are awarded for your performance. You earn more the longer you live. These can then be used in the workshop to unlock new towers. Despite having a rather plain appearance overall, towers' graphics are actually quite good. The terrain art, on the other hand, is basically a mass of different colors and looks poor. The game takes you through a number of identical stages that mimic forests, glaciers, volcanoes, a…2 found this helpful
If you're a fan of classic tower defense games, this one is sure to hit the spot. The charm of the genre is good while delivering an enjoyable and addictive gameplay experience. The game offers a solid selection of towers, each with its own unique abilities and upgrade paths. Placing and upgrading towers strategically is the key to making the game easier. The visuals are simple that capture the essence of classic tower defense games. The difficulty progression is well-balance to hard, starting off a bit standard and gradually ramping up the challenge. While the game lacks some of the bells and whistles of more modern tower defense titles, it excels in its simplicity. It offers a straightforward and enjoyable gameplay. Overall, if you're looking for a classic tower defense game that delivers a fun and addictive experience, this one is definitely worth checking out. It may not reinvent the genre, but it stays true to its roots and provides hours of entertainment.1 found this helpful
If your looking for this kinda tower defence, this is a nice one.
Seems like a fun game, with a lot going on. There are five basic types of towers, and one additional that doesn't shoot but can block the path, and eventually has a buff for near-by towers I think. The five basic types of towers have (I think) six possible upgrades, but each tower has three special types that can split off into as well, so a lot of decisions to be made. These are strategic upgrades, where you buy access to these later upgrades. The towers also allow for prioritizing targeting, a nice option. These is some variety to the foes, fliers, walkers, swimmers, which is fun, plus some seem to have special powers. I saw a walking death that seemed to summon critters as he went along. The graphics are primitive, but serviceable, and the music simple but not annoying. All in all a well thought out and fun Tower Defense game, two thumbs up. ADDENDUM: 25 hours in, and still enjoying it. A wide variety of styles and types of towers, maps and foes, as well as a deep and interesting collection of upgrades. Tower Defense gold.
One of my favorite tower defense games. I love Castlewatch because of it's simplicity. I wish there were an easy mode though to really utilize a lot of your fully upgraded towers. Easy pickup, and a lot more maps than the demo. Highly recommend.
Exactly the kind of old school style tower defense I was looking for! A lot of fun.
