Cat and Ghostly Road

Visually this game is pleasant but it is not intuitive to play. UX is not good, you can randomly click on something and it will just work and you will have no idea why. At one point early in the game I was softlocked because the necessary item did not spawn. I've almost refunded at that point, but it was early, so I replayed from the start, it did spawn next time and then the bug did not repeat. But the main thing... you might think this game is Japanese and will have proper Japanese folklore, but it just will feel off and when you get to the credits you'll know why: the developers are not Japanese. So basically it's a cultural appropriation of a generic idea about Asia by a Western person. That's why it feels so shallow. And a cute white cat does not save it.

I played this game because the devs also made Detective from the Crypt, which I also really enjoyed. The art was equally gorgeous, the puzzles seemed a little more forgiving (but that might be me misremembering how difficult the originals were; I confuse DftC with Goetia sometimes because they're so similar and I love them both), and the cheevos gave adequate dopamine. Also badges. 10/10, will buy more games from this dev. ^_^

All I saw was that this game had a cat in it. The gameplay is alright. It's mellow. Just like the cat. I like the sceneries/designs.

Cute game and I was enjoying the first hour of it until a bug, that is known by the dev team, locked me out of continuing the game. There is no work around except restarting. If it's not actually a bug and is instead a gameplay mechanic, this was poor choice from the devs imo given that a point and click game is to do exactly that - click around and try stuff. It punishes you for picking up certain items with no indication until you get stuck a while later. I had to google it to figure out what happened.

I loved this game! I will say it would likely be impossible to complete without checking the guide for a hint every now and then, but I play my games that way anyway so didn't bother me. If you like games with spirits/paranormal stuff or point and click I highly recommend!
