Cat in the Box

A decent horror game with the classic cliché of a YouTuber entering an abandoned mansion. The game has some pretty creepy moments and I enjoyed the overall atmosphere, but the controls felt a bit clunky at times. This was especially noticeable during some of the chase sequences, where the timing felt pretty tight and I ended up dying a few times because of it

Its a short game, but I enjoyed it. Uses what I found as interesting mechanics to be creepy. 8/10

I love rpg maker horror games and Cat in the Box is one of my favorites. The game doesn't overuse tropes like cheap jump scares and genuinely creates a feeling of horror through the atmosphere and plot. However I would recommend you use a walkthrough as you play. Some of the puzzles can be quite difficult. Some chase scenes are really fast as well and don't prompt you to save before they begin. Don't read ahead, because that will spoil the plot and I personally thought the plot reveal near the end was fantastic. Great game overall!!

It good

This game is part of a genre I'm an absolute sucker for, so obviously I enjoyed it. That said, I really have a problem with a couple of the segments requiring unreasonable levels of precision. It was more frustrating than anything at that point, and it hinders what is otherwise a very good game. Still, if you don't get frustrated easily, this game has a really interesting story, and isn't even as long as I make it seem at the time of this review, as I walked away leaving it idling for at least an hour two separate times. It's a solid 8/10. Would be higher without like 2 or 3 specific moments.
