Q & A
Is the game a combination of different genres?Yes, it’s hard to define Cat Detective Albert Wilde by a single genre, as we tend to blend multiple elements in our projects. This game is a fusion of comedy, film noir, detective mystery, science fiction, and narrative. Can you describe the genre from a technical perspective? From a technical perspective, you could describe it as something between a walking simulator and an interactive novel, with a strong emphasis on comedy. Is this game a kind of ‘whodunnit’ murder mystery game? It’s less of a typical "whodunnit" and more of an origin story—showing how Albert Wilde evolves from a Private Investigator (P.I.) to a Quantum Private Investigator. What Steam players say

The writing and the humor are great, but the game is basically a walking simulator visual novel. And the music is annoyingly repetitive, and the voice acting sounds like Duke Nukem, and probably AI. But the story is worth experiencing if you like light detective visual novels. This game was such a fantastic story weaving in funny jokes, silly puns, and a Wild ride for the mystery of a life-time. I'd highly recommend this game to any aspiring detective. One point to make if you are a bit stickler for proper English grammar and spelling. There were some instances within the game where the sentences did not make sense grammatically speaking and sometimes the characters would repeat a line they repeated before, and SOMETIMES it was hard to tell which character was speaking when the character who said the line didn't line up with showing the actual character saying the line nor was it color coded to show that it was that character saying that line. But really, that's only if you're nitpicky about that sort of thing. I still think its an amazing game to be enjoyed for just the sheer silly jokes and fun to be had solving the case Albert Wilde intends to crack!2 found this helpful
This is, by far, one of the most entertaining noir 'who-dunit' games I've played in a long time. The dialogue is exceptional, the humour is layered, the visuals and the voice acting alone are all great seperately... let alone together. This is an absolute gem I stumbled upon, and it saddens me that not many seem to know of it. I've been streaming it on my small channel, and I've had incredible moments and I have laughed so much with my community. I can't recommend this enough, and I hope the dev continues making games. This one is a must play, everything about it is excellent. Thank you for your game, its now one of my favourites. Edit: P.S I would love a sequel. Edit 2.0: I just finished this game, and it was incredible. Thank you! Highly recommend.2 found this helpful
I was expecting this game to be more child friendly and have some dry British humour, but it certainly surprised me. Had much fun playing it!1 found this helpful
Witty and Self Aware, plays into typical Noir tropes. It's a good time.
i would recommend this game for it's story telling points ONLY, so if you want it, wait for it to be on sale. controls are a bit clunky. I don't love the first person camera angle, and it's really annoying that you can't turn off the filter that makes the ENTIRE game look like a film noir. it's incredibly distracting. so, i mean, yeah, fun story line, but a lot of play issues.
