Fun. Old School. Worth it. Wonder if there will be more? Seems only a true 6 of these exist in the Steam eco system. Looking forward to any more in the future. Thank you.

This one is a 'Yes' but with caveats. Baseline here is clearly Mario styled games. It doesn't even try to hide the fact that Mario is the inspiration. But there are differences: Pro: - Secrets, like so many secrets and placed sometimes so roughly they become a hindrance as you hit your head on invisible blocks all the time. Someone with a enterprising spirit should make guides where the secrets are. Starting from World 2-1 and forward they are not that straightforward to find. Annoying but intriguing also. Make random jumps to places and lo and behold likely there is a secret, but also perhaps a secret beyond that. Finding that top level exit key can get interesting. - Heart upgrades spice things. Bonus levels. 1UPs placed strategically before tough spots can give you a life line if you are having problems. - Generally a game that seems to reward trying out things to advance. Not bad for a small game like this. Saving system though is a hindrance here but you got Continues also after all lives are spent. - Pretty decent game on it's own. It doesn't just ride on Game Boy green-screen nostalgia too much. Con: - Platforming is harder. There are puzzles where you need to ju…

Cham the Cat Adventure is a charming homage to Super Mario Land, one that features many connections to the game that inspired it while doing enough different to have its own identity. The game looks a lot like SML, down to the level motifs looking very similar to their SML counterparts. We even get a couple of horizontally-scrolling shmup sections. The music is also very reminiscent of SML's soundtrack, with tunes clearly following the same musical themes and instrumentation (the tune when you beat a boss in particular seems to come dangerously close to being a copy-paste from SML). Playing this will probably stir up some nostalgia if you played SML in your childhood. Where Cham strays a bit more from SML is in its primary mechanics (which works to its benefit). Instead of Small Mario, Big Mario and Superball Mario, we have Melee Cham, Whip Cham and Projectile Whip Cham. It's nice that Cham always has attack options besides jumping on enemies (which she can also do), and her whip attacks are more intuitive and effective that the Superball. In yet another nod to SMW, her whip can pick up coins (100 coins gets you a 1-up, naturally). The platforming feels remarkably similar to SMW…
