IMPORTANT: Instead of containing 3 chapters, the base game contains only the Bonus Chapter.
I went into Christmas Fables: Nutcracker’s Tale genuinely excited, largely because of its seasonal theme. What I got instead was one of the most disastrously broken hidden object games I’ve ever touched. Do Games already have a reputation for broken Steam achievements, but this goes far beyond that. This game is a total embarrassment. Do yourself a favor and stay far away until (and unless) it’s ever fixed properly. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3625375702 To start with the positives: visually, the game is amazingly stunning, perhaps even one of the most beautiful HOGs out there. The hidden object scenes are masterfully built, cleverly playing with perspective and scale. All items feel cohesive and their ensemble scene has something magical. Outside of the HOG scenes, there are other charming interactions, like clicking a Christmas tree to make it light up. Now for the disaster. The base game is supposed to contain three chapters, plus an additional bonus chapter accessible through a paid DLC. What you actually get when buying the base game on Ste…26 found this helpful

Unfortunately AI has started to creep in and these games are shorter, while charging the same price. Not only that it crashed out when I tried to see if I could open up additional chapters....black screen. This had all the potential to be good, but I recommend saving your money. It's not the same quality as years past and ruined my Christmas excitement of getting this year's game.6 found this helpful
If you play a lot of HOGs, you will be disapointed with this. It's only about an hour and a half of game play, and there were locked scenes and choices that require the DLC purchase. It's got beautiful scenery, but I was really saddened to see that it was all AI, including the creepy cutscenes. The pictures that you see above of the game aren't even in this edition that I purchased.5 found this helpful
I’ve always liked Domini Games’ stuff, so I’ve picked up pretty much every “Christmas Fables” title at this point. But this one… kinda missed the mark. I get that it’s a fantasy world, but the AI-generated art is way too obvious. It actually pulls you out of the experience instead of pulling you in. And for a hidden object game, IMMERSION is literally the whole point. I really wanted to like this, but it ends up feeling more distracting than magical. Please dial back the AI stuff in future games. Luckily, the music and overall holiday vibe are still pretty cozy, which I did appreciate.1 found this helpful
