7/10 (Bought on Sale) - Fun & not too long - Story is fun for what it is - Characters are silly in a good way - Simple way to get into the turn-based genre - Mech gameplay leaves more to be desired - Itemization is lacking

Love letter to sentai and power rangers.

Chroma Squad is an unexpected surprise. Do not be fooled by the apparent homage to the 90s Japanese television shows. There is more than meets the eye, and this is actually much more entertaining than I anticipated. The game itself is a tactical RPG. Personally, I would say it falls under the light strategy category, as it is not extremely difficult. While there might be some challenging situations, beating the game is quite doable. The option to choose the difficulty level is always welcome and allows everyone to experience the game at their own pace. The additional features are what make this game quite unique and fun. There are management elements such as hiring actors, buying equipment and handling the studio businesses, as well as keeping your fan base happy. But also the premise of every battle, which is not only to defeat the enemies, but to do so in such a way that increases the views of the episode. The story is simple and not particularly profound, but it’s engaging enough. There’s humour here and there, including all the clichés of this genre. One of the most fun games I have played, Oh my God

I am a 310 year old power ranger and power mother, and probably one of the oldest people in the world playing this game. I am a single power ranger to my TruckPower, who is 254 now. My SonRanger got this game for from his Son, so we installed it on his computer and he started playing. By the end of the week he had 5000 hours on this game. This was horrible for me, as it was already hard for me to find ways to spend time with my SonRanger (FATTE I CAZZI TUA), as he is always out with his Rangerfriends or just watching JAV movies on RangerHub. So i decided to make a Steam account and get this game to see if I could maybe play alongside him, her, they/them. I loaded into the game and started playing but I was stuck on what you where supposed to do. I asked my RangerSon for help and he screamed, put on a suit and went out to battle against Stronzazord which I couldn't join. It was the best time I had spent with my RangerSon since my PowerDog had died. The game has good vibes, music and some creative designs (one of the bosses is a traffic stop guy), but the actual gameplay is mostly boring. The battles are super basic, with some characters not even having any abilities from the start. There is some strategy with light positioning and target prioritization, but it's not deep. The rest of the game, like the studio management and equipment, is mundane at best, and tiring at worst due to simplistic UI. The whole audience meter - the game's differentiator - was mostly irrelevant as I often I never needed complete in-battle objectives for it. All in all, the idea and setting is unique, but elements that support are just not fun.
