About Close Combat 2: A Bridge Too Far
Choose your battles, soldier-but watch your troops closely.
Your best men might be war-weary, others may just be cowards or too green for heavy combat. And you better know how to command - these men won't obey suicidal orders.
Dominate the battlefield.
Pound back tank attacks, foil enemy ambushes, and weather the hail of automatic weapon fire. Real-time action pushes your tactical skills to the limit on historically accurate battlefields.
Resource allocation lets you customize your forces.
Determine which operations receive reinforcements and which ones must struggle with what's on hand. Everything hinges on your ability to get limited reserves to the right battlefield at the right time.
All damage and territory carry forward
Your success in the ground you capture affects your position in future battles.

I never actually had the full game I had the demo as kid and played it over and over. It was a nice surprise when they dropped the original 3 Close Combats on Steam. Thank you to Berto's review for the following info to make this run on my Steam Deck. Go to your install folder, and open the CC2.ini file. Change this: PlayVideos=1 to PlayVideos=0 Use launch option in game properties: WINEDLLOVERRIDES="ddraw.dll=n,b" %command%3 found this helpful
Pathetically bad rehack in the modern "style" of making dumb games stupidly "smart" using fake RNG to create a so called challenge. Enemies that know exactly where you set up and magically get a perfect first shot every time on a hidden and critical battle changing unit with a "random" mortar shell across the map? GTFO. Just another lazy and junk slot machine with a fake game layered on top2 found this helpful
Close Combat 2: A Bridge Too Far stands as a compelling reminder of how timeless game design can outlast technological limitations. Set during Operation Market Garden, one of World War II's most daring and controversial campaigns, the game puts players in command of forces fighting for control of critical bridges throughout the Netherlands. Developed by Atomic Games and published on Steam by SNEG, this classic tactical experience embraces historical authenticity and thoughtful battlefield management rather than cinematic action. Even decades after its original release, it remains an engaging example of how strategy games can create tension through intelligent mechanics instead of visual spectacle. The game's greatest strength lies in its commitment to realism. Players can command British, American, Polish, or German units across a campaign where every engagement matters. Unlike conventional real-time strategy titles, soldiers in Close Combat 2 are not mindless pieces waiting for orders. They become exhausted, panic under sustained fire, and may refuse commands if morale collapses. This human element gives battles an unpredictability that feels remarkably authentic. great game very nostalgic
An absolute classic. As brutally hard as it ever was.
I used to play this back i the 90s/2000s. Awesome game. Very nostalgic to visit the old combat maps and hear the familiar sound effects. Great historical video clips too.
