✦ AI summary

Players are sharply divided on this idle/clicker game. Supporters praise it as a well-balanced hidden gem with solid mechanics and art that delivers good value, while critics argue the store page contains misleading descriptions about features like "new locations" and "special abilities," and complain that the game is shallow with only 4 hours of meaningful content before requiring extended idle periods to unlock achievements.

The price point is demonstrative -- It's a very simple game. You can see everything it's trying to do in 15 minutes. Unlocking everything can be done in 4 hours. Then you gotta barely interact with the game & let it run for another 8 hours to get all the achievements. The mechanics, the art, the upgrades... they're fine. They work, and you won't be blown away. What makes this bad is that the store page is chock-full of misinformation. "Open new locations" means prestige. "Unlock special abilities" means there's two abilities that become automated very quickly. "Compete for challenging achievements" has no competition elements either in game or through leaderboards, and they're challenging in that you have to let the game sit idle for 15 minute stretches on each ingredient to earn achievements. Your patience & attention span are the only things challenged. "Endless progression" is ridiculous because every upgrade has a maximum limit. Every single one. "Daily Cycles -- Each workday lasts 5 minutes of real time." Uh, no. There are zero time limits, restraints, or summaries anywhere. "Lore & Narrative" Nah. NAH. A total of maybe ten sentences of flavor text that your restaurant is …

Bit too long for its upgrade content and pacing is bad. Also unreasonable achievements.

See Trim's review for more info but I currently have just 1 thing not fully maxed out and i'm nowhere near done. I've been playing this for 4 hours and only have 11/73 achievements. If this was rebalanced it would be awesome. But it feels needlessly padded out needing 100 million of every single food item, and then 1 million GOLDEN versions of that same thing on top.

Aw yis, an incremental game around food! Good stuff. I don't have much insight. I like incremental games and I have a high tolerance for the type of grind offered by this game. Give it a try if you want, it's the best way to know if you'll actually enjoy it.

Idle & Incremental Lovers recommends Cook & Click: Simple yet satisfying incremental food-cutting game. Discovering new ingredients and finding golden ones is fun. Basic and prestige upgrades are few, but allow power creep through full automation. + For idle and incremental games, good pacing is essential, and this one hits the right spot. I never felt bored or wanting to reach the end already. + Nothing particularly new or creative, but the game builds on a classic idle/incremental formula that has proven its mastery as a time-waster black belt over and over. + Having a very small probability to find a golden ingredient (giving prestige points) gave me some type of gambling enjoyment! + From clicker to idler. I love that you can work your way towards nearly full automation. And the power creep that goes with it. + Many achievements, if you're into that. - Not gonna lie, it is a bit repetitive. But not to the point that it overstays its welcome. *I like cooking with my kids. But sometimes I have to resort to chicken.* Found this review helpful? This culinary management clicker is a highly addictive and satisfying experience. The core loop of chopping various ingredients to unlock new food categories, like different fruits and seafood, keeps the progression feeling fresh and rewarding. The pixel art style is clean and charming, making it really enjoyable to just relax and watch the knife go to work on the cutting board. Automating your production and purchasing upgrades gives a great sense of endless progression as you watch your profits skyrocket. It is a lot of fun to unlock special abilities, open up new locations, and grind for the more challenging achievements. If you are looking for a casual but engaging incremental game to sink some time into, this is definitely worth picking up.
