Professional Chef is an incremental cooking game with a functional core loop that some players find enjoyable, but it suffers from significant quality-of-life issues that frustrate most. Common complaints include awkward menu navigation, a slider-only system for selecting ingredient quantities that lacks precision, missing inventory items in the cookbook, and an absence of automation despite being an idle-incremental title.

I think Professional Chef deserves a slightly unusual review from me because I'm looking at it from two very different perspectives. On one hand, I've been playing games for more than four decades and I enjoy a good incremental game. On the other, I spent more than 20 years working professionally in kitchens, including as a Head Chef, Chef Manager and Executive Chef. Those two versions of me had very different opinions about this game. 🎮 Gamer Tom If I put my chef's hat down for a moment and judge Professional Chef purely as an incremental game with a cooking theme, there's actually quite a lot here that I enjoyed. The basic loop works. You prepare dishes, progress, improve things and gradually work your way through more of what the game has to offer. There's that familiar incremental satisfaction of starting with very little and steadily building things up, and I happily spent around two hours playing. That's important, because if I genuinely disliked the underlying game, I wouldn't have played it for two hours. There are certainly areas where I think it could be improved. The progression and lack of automation in places may prove repetitive for some incremental players, a…

sh1tty game from a sh1tty developer, this game lacks so many things that it should be in early access as everything stinks and i cant really see myself enjoying it, you can give it a try since its free but i doubt that you will like it, idle-incremental game with no automation whatsoever pure torture and madness. anyway whatever i gave up playing after 20 minutes so all i can give you is this negative vote and be happy about it.

I am having problems with this, I buy ingredients to cook, then although they are in my inventory they are missing in the cookbook to start cooking, I won't buy the premium until it is sorted. Otherwise it could be a good game

Super fun game. I was hoping some simulation 1st person would come up at some point, but overall I really enjoyed it

This game has a lot of potential but could do with quite a few QoL improvements. There is a lot of wasted time going between menus for example from restaurant, to buying ingredients then going back and forth with the cookbook to check how much is needed. Quantity is set by slider only. Additionally, the majority of upgrades at higher levels are locked behind the Premium DLC which is quite pricey.

There are a few particularly annoying things about this game: the inability to select exact food quantities at the supermarket due to the slider mechanism (this is especially noticeable once your inventory reaches 2,000 slots). For instance, if I need 10 tomatoes, the slider jumps from 6 to 12 without ever letting me pick exactly 10. You then have to throw away the surplus without getting a refund it’s the height of wasteful nonsense! Please add a numerical input option so we can select exact quantities. It’s the same story at the supermarket if you pick the wrong ingredient for a recipe: you have to get rid of the unwanted food. This issue is all the more frustrating because, once you're in the kitchen, the ingredients are shown only as images with no clear descriptions. Mistakes happen quite often... and they feel pretty punishing, especially when you're just starting out. (A tooltip showing the food's name when hovering the mouse over it would be really welcome). It gets tedious over time and really detracts from the game's appeal it's a real shame. A bit more clarity, along with the ability to select the exact amounts of ingredients needed for dishes, would make the experien…
