About Crop and Claw

CROP AND CLAW

A miasma consumes Garden.
The decay brings lawlessness
and madness to the land.
Rogues, cults, and evil
plantlife rule the realm.

Crop and Claw is a classic-style JRPG centered around dragons in a lush realm known as the "Garden". The plantlife has gone awry, bringing an era of struggle across the realm. One dragon sets out on adventure, for reasons only known to themselves, to see if the Garden could be restored.

KEY FEATURES

* Multiple dragon types to take the role of, each with their own unique specialties.
* A continent stuffed with dungeons and secrets to find.
* A simple and classic combat system focused on resource management.
* Dragons, dragons, dragons!

REPLAYABLE

The continent of Crop and Claw is vast. With multiple playable dragon types, a timer and step counter, and few restrictions on the player's routes, Crop and Claw is feasible for challenge runs and alternate approaches.
If you've already gone through the game and scavenged every corner, try a Randomized run which shuffles enemies and loot!

CLASSIC AND REPAINTED

Is your computer not powerful enough for more than a few colors? Switch to Classic mode in the options for a cosmetic change back to the original visuals and music.

Finally. Dragon quest for dragons.

Miserably unbalanced. Terrible interface. What story?

Cute RPG in a similar vein to Dragon Quest. Lots of dragons and plants. Different classes (species of dragon) and a built-in randomizer add replayability. Polish as far as what can be CHECKed. Ran fine, no issues. A regular playthrough will probably be 4-8 hours.

Charming little game, clearly inspired by dragon warrior and with a few similar clunky aspects to its inspiration while still having some quality of life features of a more modern game. Definitely worth a play through.

This game is one of those games that is exactly what is advertised. A turn based, NES-style/inspired 1-v-1 JRPG with dragon characters. It is challenging, a bit grindy, sometimes a little cryptic, and it does all of this very intentionally. As somebody who grew up playing tons of NES rpgs, this game has the feeling down perfectly. However, I do feel it was designed to avoid some of the trappings that made many of those JRPGs hard to return to in modern day. It's rpg mechanics have a lot of depth, with the ability to build your character in different ways, a ton of different types of equipment, much of which can remain relevant if you combine it with the right accessories, and built in speed running and randomizer settings if that is your thing. There are ways to 'break the game' and create crazy min-max builds, though that is not needed. Items and status ailments are actually important, and nearly mandatory to beat some bosses. Honestly? I may be biased as a random cartoon dragon on the internet, but as a person who's favorite franchise growing up was Dragon Quest, a fan of dragons, animated/cartoon-esque stuff, a game design nerd, and a general rpg nerd, this game feels like it…
