Crossbow Quest

You can see from the trailer it's boring and an asset flip with one-time use of AI: the steam page shows an AI‑generated crossbow image that looks nothing like the one in the actual game. So how it's been created? The developer took the "UE4 Sun Temple" made by Epic Games (the developer of Unreal Engine) and puts us in that big map without any optimization. In each level the developer just places us in different areas of a map he didn’t create and makes us shoot at targets he didn’t create. All he did was just putting few targets in front of us. And the developer didn’t bother to make proper controls, it’s so uncomfortable to rotate, which is easy to set up. But it looks like this developer prefers generating fake AI images instead of finding out how to do something as simple as setting up proper player rotation. Lazy developers. Lazy developers never change...

"Crossbow Quest" is a low key asset flip, a bunch of other people's assets assembled badly to make a basic game, typically this kind of thing is done by amateur developers without sufficient budget, talent and/or staff to do the job of game development professionally. It's then quickly rushed into Steam Direct. And, unsurprisingly, this never results in a product with any quality, interest, or value for gamers. This is a pretty basic tech demo where you get an asset flip looking crossbow and shoot at some asset flip looking targets. It's a pointless shooting range. And I'm really not convinced someone went through all the effort of making a rather nice looking crossbow weapon and then did absolutely nothing with it to create this "game". It's repetitive and boring, so don't let looks fool you, there's nothing under the hood here. What we sometimes call a "minimum viable product", although usually asset flippers try to charge money for those. So, the game might look better than you'd expect from an amateur project, but this is because it's partially or completely made up of stock assets, "borrowed" from asset stores and free asset websites. Great aim trainer for crossbow enjoyers! I wish there was a setting to change mouse sensitivity and volume controls for music and sound effects. 9/10 will crossbow again
