Crudelis is a short adventure RPG set in a strange steampunk version of 1896, and I think the main idea is easily the most interesting thing about it. I play as Henry Shackelton, a scientist who is working on a machine that could bring the dead back to life. Things go very wrong when his home is attacked and he is left with only 60 minutes to live. From there I have to investigate what happened, talk to people around the city and work out who I can trust before my time runs out. It is a small game, but the time limit gives the whole thing a nice sense of urgency. What I like most is that I am not simply following one straight story. There are 12 possible endings and my choices can change what happens later, so I have to pay attention to what people tell me and decide which problems are actually worth dealing with. The city of Abarian Creek has different locations to explore, and I can choose what I want to investigate during my limited time. I like this because it makes the short playtime feel more deliberate. Really enjoyed this game, I've only had one playthrough so far. There's a lot of replay value here, with a very open world full of various plots that I don't think need to be accomplished to get the canon ending. I myself got really far, then accidently got myself killed in helping with a rebellion! I'm definitely going to dive back into this game, and see how much I can accomplish! Good game!
