The combat is fine, nothing special. What isn't fine is that you basically have to play Tomagachi on the side, and you can't "win" unless you build a base and manage the creatures by making them a kitchen, a bedroom and... I don't care. I wanted an action game. :)1 found this helpful
im really enjoying anomaly president
great game. i could not play the anomaly agent for more than 2 hours but i have played this game 8 hours since yesterday.
A roguelite game with base building mechanics. You get loot from your presidental bus base and minigames in the map. These unlock with progression so you don't have most minigames open when you first start. The progression is great and the game feels really polished for early access. I encounter the occasional bugs but they are nothing game breaking. The combat aspect is subjective but I find it fun. The main point I love about the game is the dialogues. In the middle of combat, you sometimes encounter enemies or NPCs that you talk to before fighting. These people, even though they look like basic enemies, are different because they have their own story. Without spoiling much, I encountered a baby looking for his father in my first run In my 4th run, I see a man running away. In the 6th run I see the father looking for the baby. In the 8th I see the baby getting brainwashed. I do not know if we can change the fates of these NPC's but seeing side stories is fun nonetheless. Every enemy knows that they are coming back after they die and so do you. I do not think the plot is that they are immortal, they are just being healed after dying in a run, just like you do. Playedo nly a few hours so far. Could update once i finish the game. My first impression In every aspect an improvement over anomaly agent in my eyes. Yes still a bit jankiness remains in combos (guess they kept it in on purpose? Maybe it has become a fest of the IP) but weapon switches, progress and design in levels and whole roguelite and city building (i.e. campaign bus) parts added around core gameplay loop makes it a more diverse and more captivating game experience. On things to develop side, wondering why upgrades to weapons look minimal and looking fwd to colelctibles in full version. For newcomers, you would love this if you liked dave the diver or usual action platformer titles. Overall, a solid sophomore effort from the devs. not just iteration like most sequels, they really evolved and transformed many of game concepts but still kept its quirky soul.
The game feels so great. I can see the hard work you put into the game. Thank you for creating it. And I am looking forward what can bring Phew Phew Games in the future.
