As one user said: "CRYMACHINA is not for everyone." Look. This game has amazing visuals, beautiful voice acting and perfect atmosphere, THE BEST anime into in game, memorable soundtracks + it has yuri in it but the story is confusing and the end did not make any sense. This is like Honkai Impact 3rd, where you are set onto mission to defeat enemies on limited area and then get back to the "safe point". Leveling up characters doesn't make sense to me too, like when can I level them up and with what materials? I had 100 EGO and yet option for leveling up didn't show up. Some of Deus ex machinas had way too much power and the only way to defeat them is by being higher level than them. The combat was also honestly mid. You cannot dodge when you want/when something is attacking you. As much as I like this game I sadly cannot give it a thumbs up due to it being hard and confusing to follow up. Again, this game is not for everyone.

DO NOT BUY THIS AT FULL PRICE, WAIT FOR SALE. Other than that, my goat Sakuzyo makes the entire experience far more worthwhile for the stellar soundtrack. Fighting mechanics are nice I guess, you can customize your "support drones" to use during battle, parrying is almost always worse than dodging, ranged mode feels hard to use consistently. At least there is no energy system, so you can dash infinitely. As for the story, so far it's been meh, but it is still enough to get me interested for more. Long story short, there is nothing to write home about and it's not a complete waste of time, you can definitely get a great experience playing through the game... ...but ONLY IF YOU DO NOT BUY IT AT FULL PRICE.

2/5 Crymachina is a sci-fi anime action game with dated presentation and gameplay. I am surprised a title like this came out in 2023. Outside surface level graphics the game screams cheaply made anime action game, layered in an equally mediocre experience. At least the music is pretty awesome. One would have a better experience with this game if they likened it to an elaborate interactive music video. We’ll start with the best, the music. It’s Sakuzyo. Let’s face it, you’re probably only even here because of them. So turn the music up, turn everything else down, and let it be the primary experience. Trust me. Really a shame you can’t purchase the OST, because if so I’d just say skip the game and go buy that. Voicework is professional and sounds good, exactly what you would expect from this kind of game. Sound design does the job. This game is like 2/3s visual novel, 1/3 musou action game. The action portion is simple one-button mashing hack’n’slash. Doesn’t feel good though, hit response is poor, and there is too much visual noise to make out parry or dodge windows. There simply isn’t enough depth to warrant exploration of the combat options, but the game forces you to level up…

Before I begin, I just want to say that this review isn't for anyone looking to see if they should get the game. Of course I think you should. While it's on sale, anyway. I loved this game, it's one of my favourite games now, but FURYU selling this game for over £55 (with an ultimate edition being £80) is robbery and is actively harming their potential sales. Regardless, this review was made for those, like me, who have completed the game and wish to share their thoughts. I will be discussing spoilers. I recommend you watch videos to gage if this is the game for you because as another reviewer says: "It isn't for everyone." ----- Back in 2023, I came across a great video on YT of four wiggling chibis dancing to "Xfinity". That video would sit in the back of my brain until this year when I finally saw Crymachina on sale. From the moment I started playing Crymachina, I absolutely adored it. The setting, gameplay, and art style had me hooked from the very beginning. I even liked the weirdly paced story, even though it kind of pulled a Far Cry 3 half way through. However, as I was playing, I was noticing some oddities. Notably janky animations, a lack in enemy variations, and a plot…

This game is not for everyone, but those who click with it will love it. This is one of those games that you don't play for the gameplay, even though it is an improvement from it's predecessor, Crystar, but instead for the compelling story
