Completed the game, and it pains me to do this, but I'll go with a negative review, which is mostly a mixed one. Up to Completing Chapter 8 for the first time, I still agree with my previous review, game was grindy but still interesting. (Continues after original review) Original Review: The best parts of this game at this point are: The story which is quite good even if a bit troupey in certain sections with darker undertones, the artstyle which is quite eye-catchy and memorable, and the soundtrack, simply incredible this last one. Just search for the soundtrack in youtube if you don't believe me... amazingly beautiful violin intermixed with techno vibes. Extremely memorable The story has a prevalent dark tone and it's quite immersive and enjoyable so far (still in chapter 4), but I can see how the gameplay can get repetitive soon due to how clanky the combat feels, really static with restrictive combos and basic abilities to use. Not slow, but not as responsive as it could be to make this game a must play (If this game had Ys combat system I'd be having a blast). Imperfect chipped gem Enjoyed but , Too long. Combat repetitive and dull after a while. Good JP voices but odd English text translations here and there. Very weak first 20 minutes. i haven't finished it yet and i will for sure edit this review by the time i did. i was skeptical about this game but when it started it instantly puts you in a speech about crying how to basically make best out of it. intriguing start that catches attention to me. You start of as a butterfly which in this game is a 'fading soul' that loses consciousness. a pretty unique concept. Rei Hatada (MC) has a little sister named 'Mirai'. she follows you at the start as a pink butterfly and returns as herself once she realized shes Mirai Hatada, the MC sister. They both try to find a way out of this 'dream' they thought they were in. Turns out it's not a dream. Once you lost your sister you try to get her back, gaining a Guardian and a blessing which is where the combat starts. , you fight the corrupted souls of the dead inhabiting the afterlife realm of Purgatory. the game's theme centers heavily around death, grief, and human history, your enemies are not typical fantasy monsters, but rather tragic, twisted manifestations of human spirits. which i like the concept of. loved it, these devs know how to make good characters writing

A game where you can make girls cry... because there's a dedicated button for it. But also those girls have stand powers, and the stands have famous philosophers' names. "Fuc|< them up, Socrates! The pen is mightier than the sword, b!tch!" ...Even though that girl actually does use swords[strike], and they don't say it like that in the game[/strike]. On a more serious note, I had a lot of fun with this one. The level environments were cool, and soundtrack and voice acting were both nice too. Story was fine, with every single twist hella telegraphed several chapters ahead of time - but Furyu's other game, Monark, already prepared me for that so I didn't mind. Combat was serviceable - individual enemies are always straightforward to deal with, but with groups you still have to choose which ones to prioritize and when to attack/dodge. Some enemies felt like damage sponges, but that usually just meant I should use a magic attack instead of a physical one. The biggest downside for me was that with mouse and keyboard, the controls couldn't really be meaningfully changed. I've just started the game, but so far the art direction and themes very much remind me of Madoka Magica. I like the girl designs a lot, but the enemies seem pretty copy and paste even this short in. I'll probably update this when I get more along and can give a more through review :)
